I have a 2006 v6 convertible, and would like to know if anybody modified the head rests? My wife is short and when she sits in the seat, the head rests make her head tilt too forward. If we adjust it higher it is useless. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks
Mine is perfect. I am 6'2". If she is shorter, I wouldn't think she would be having a problem with the headrest being too low...
I think if you raise it so the top of the rest is slightly above her head, it will work. When I lean my head back, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch, it touches the headrest. It's nice when I launch, to be able to lean my head back and not be staring at the headliner
Also, you can try reclining the seat slightly. I agree that the headrests are strange. I can't imagine using them with a helmet. I'd be pointing my face at the horn button all through the race.
These cars must be built for taller people. I'm 5'6" and the head rest doesn't bother me but every time someone else gets in my car with me they ask "do you sit that close to the wheel ALL the time?" and I reply with "I'm stretching to floor the clutch with it this close, i'm a little man in a big people car!" I've been able to back the seat off a little more as I got used to the clutch. In traffic the toes on my left foot start to ache so I have the move the seat back up to reach better.
Come to think of it; I hate being short.

LOL! Even at my height, I have the seat slightly forward of all-the-way-back. Nice and comfy. All the way back and I have a slight difficulty getting the clutch and gas pedal all the way down.
I have to agree that the headrest may look great, they are a terrible place to rest your head. My wife dislikes them so much that she would rather that we take her um...Subaru Forester on long trips. I have tried to snooze while she is driving and they are definetly uncomfortable. Are there any replacement alternatives? I love my 05 Mustang. Chris
Did you mean take out the wife or the headrest. Redfire Red 05 Mustang is a real eye catcher. I have had it for 2 years and still get compliments on it.
Yesterday I stopped at my local Ford dealer and asked about replacement headrests and they really did not want to recommend anything because of the safety ratings and crash tests. He did however agree to research headrests in other new Fords to see which ones would interchange. Structurally, they look so much alike so some must interchange. Has anyone else gone this route?

Same height, same thing!!
I just use the seat "mover button" to move me, with the left leg extended while pressing the clutch pedal, and continue untill the pedal hits the floor, then I stop. Perfect fit!

My grandkids sit in the back because they are smaller.Tell you wife to sit in back. That'll probably go over big.
My wife finds the back seat more comfortable for longer rides also (no, get your mind out of the gutter people, sheesh!!)
