Did the first mod on the wife's V6 Pony. I got a great deal on a slightly used K&N CAI. I have to say I have gained a little respect for the 4.0 V6 over the last little while. Nice, solid 6 banger and it doesn't sound half bad. The next mod will be a Disblosport Predator tuner. My GT goes in on Friday for a supercharger and it comes with a tune so I won't be using for my car anymore. I have the catback exhaust off my GT that might also end up on it. I'll take it out for a blast with the G-Timer and see what kind of 1/4 mile times etc. it can pull off.
I don't know much about these things but I heard if you only install a CAI with no custom tune you end up running lean and lose power.
Also try getting your predator tuner from AZ Offroad on ebay. I got it for 310 bucks with free shipping and it came in 3 days. I'm really happy with how fast it came. They are brand new.

I had a CAI with no tune and it gave the illusion of power, quicker get up,easy breathing. I dont know if it ran lean or not,,no pinging. However hearing all this about CAI and tunes I took the plunge and purchased a Steeda CAI ,Sct tuner Kit. NOW there is a big difference.
Giddy-up,,burns rubber from a dead stop, shifts firmer,,you know all that stuff.Just cant figure why it uses more gas

The K&N does not require a tune. But others like the C&L do require a tune.
I'm looking to get a cai for my car. Saw one on ebay for 68.+ shipping that matches the color of my car. Not so sure of it's proformance or quailty. It maybe you get what you pay for. What is a tuner and what does it do. New to this stuff.

I've seen this same CAI's that your talking about but I'm guessing a name brand would be better. Wouldn't trust my car with an inferior performance product for the life of the car.
A tuner is a computer that goes for about 300-400 bucks. You plug it into your car in the spot under your steering column below your left knee. From there you follow the on screen directions and select which octane of tune you would like. The tune will increase things like torque, HP, get rid of the throttle lag our mustangs have for the most part, better the shift points, and theres a bunch more things it improves. Basically it does this by going into the computer of your car and tells it to do whatever you alter in the tuner screen. I use a 93 octane tune stock from the Diable Sport Predator. I'm going to need a custom tune when I buy a CAI and I can get one for about 60 bucks offline. You get custom tunes from people in your areas with dynos or through a usb cable running to your computer.
Any more questions feel free to PM me. Hope this helped.

Thanks for the information and education; I've got a lot to learn and this web site is the best. If somebody doesn't know it; it doesn't exist.
Here's some good info from C&L. They make one of the most respected CAI's on the market. But the do require a tune. Read the article. 2005-2007 Mustang V6 C&L Trueflow System
This is the one I have on the wife's car.http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=63-2566
I only paid $100 so the price was right.
Never be afraid to ask a question or for advise. Pleanty of helpfull people on this forum. You can always to a forum search to see if the question has been asked before.
I'd love to get more performance out of my pony, but I can't see dropping a few hundred bucks on a tuner that will only be used once (or so it seems). I'm already planning on doing CAI and muffler upgrade, but would a tuner replace the need to do all that? Would all these upgrades together give me crazy power increases, or could I save some $$$ and just do certain parts?

Each individual item is worth only a couple of extra ponies but combined you cab expect a 15-25 hp to be realistic.

Well the cool thing about a tune is it not only gives you more HP and torque, but you also get things like better gas mileage, less throttle lag, better shift points and things like that. They make the car much more enjoyable to drive. My main problem with my car was when I gave it a good amount of gas pushing down on the pedal it didn't go anywhere for a couple seconds then it kicked it. The tune removed this and I'm much happier with how the car shifts as well. The stock Mustang seemed to slide into shifts where as this one actually seems like its pushing you forward right into the next gear. I'm not looking to go mod crazy on my car since there are other things I need to spend my cash on but this is the second most important thing to do after exhaust imo. I got mine off of AZ Offroad on ebay for 315 bucks which isn't a bad deal considering they usually go for around 400. Check it out if you have the cash to spare, you can use the stock airbox, I do. Eventually when I get some extra cash I'll pick up a custom tune and get a CAI.

I went with the CAI and Tune, along with true duals with gt mufflers, the H pipe hooked up to JBA shorty headers. The process took awhile but worth the wait. The combo is perfect for me and the TUNE..oh the Tune. Like so many say...instant response is worth it..and getting some rubber with the auomatic aint bad either.
