2006 V6 Mustang owner needs advice on upgrades

Hey,

I have a 2006 6-cyl all black Mustang. I want to start making her all that but have heard so many opinions I am hoping you guys (and gals) can help.

Objective:
  1. Make the car fast, throaty, and super sharp as quickly as possibly on limited funds. Please recommend whick of the below you feel would be first in line, second, third, and so on. Please indicate brand if you know a reliable one.
  1. Cool air induction to replace air filter assembly.
  2. Performance chip for $10.
  3. Dual exhast from the headers back to replace current single.
  4. 20 inch rims and performance tires.
  5. Cowlings on rear windows and rear quarter panels.
  6. Chrome billit grills.
  7. Definitely need a hood scoop.
  8. Roush or Foose car striping.
I would appreciate any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
Scott

Hello Scott, welcome aboard. Sounds like you have lofty plans for your ride. Well, we all have been there...just remember, once bitten by the mod bug, it becomes highly addictive. Do check out our 2005+ Mustang section for tips, advice, ideas and answers to most questions. Oh yeah, by the way, do not waste your money on the $10 chip, they are highly questionable as to whether they provide any real horsepower. Anyways, come on in and enjoy.

Welcome aboard...

1) Go for a SCT X-cal2 / CAI combo. Personally I like the C&L CAI...

2) NO!

3) Start with a good axle back. If you really want duals you need to realize it will be for looks and sound. No real performance gains going to duals. As far as headers, not much of a performance gain but does help the sound. Also, I don't know of anyone that sells a complete system from the headers back. You would need to custom fab something. Personally I would just do a cat back system if you want to go duals...

4) 20's will more than like be expensive and slow you down...

5) through 8) are nice appearance mods but won't do anything to improve performance... LOL

My i suggest you also look into some type of limited slip differential and gears...

Thanks to all. I'm still at a loss but I think I'll start with the dual-exhaust. Any recommendations on OEM fit manufacturers with good sound improvs? Someone said FlowMaster, others said no. ??????

Flowmasters are fine on an otherwise stock exhaust. Add headers and they don't sound so good (at least they don't on a GT).
