Pretty sure it was a fleet car. I bought it used (7000 miles) from a Lincoln dealer in April '05 (when they were still hard to get new). At the time, I thought the V6s had the moulding, and the GTs didn't. Later, I learned that fleet cars had the moulding. I don't mind it too much. I know a lot of people think it takes away from the car, but I say it adds character (it lines up with the running ponies I added to the fenders).
If I knew it wouldn't leave a mark, I might remove it someday, but it's been there for 2 1/2 years, so I think it'll stay.
yeah I 'm the same way I bought mine used also and mine had the molding down the side of the door also, but I kinda like it so I just left it there. i'm trying to get some pics of my stang to post up on the forum but haven't been able to get any decent pics yet. your car looks great. nice job if you go with the gt muffler on teh other side I don't think you'll be dissapointed i have the dual exhaust with the gt mufflers and it sounds nice I think.
