You can do the normal boltons and gears and make a v-6 fun. You probably still won't be beating GT's, but will be able to beat a lot of ricers

You could do it so it beats a stock GT but it would be cheaper to go blower or turbo.

Forged motor / raise compression
Cam
Heads
Intake
TB
CAI
injectors
Long tube headers / exhaust
Dyno Tune
Gear

You are talking BIG $$$ for that kind of motor work... not sure if that would make up the 90HP difference...

a bolt-on V6 will not take a stock 2005+ GT... not unless you have a very very bad driver behind the wheel of the GT... LOL!

Now a bolt-on V6 will run low to mid-14's.... which will let you beat some OLDER GTs...

However, there are a few V6s like John's that will certainly beat even some modded GTs.

If you do some engine work and lighten the car you can. Port and polish your heads with some agressive cams, all the bolt ons, gears, driveshaft, sticky clutch, fats and skinnies, and take everything out of the car not needed, like seats, and you could probably do it. But what is the point of all that work to have a strip only car that is on par with a stock GT? Just go forced induction.

not the new 05's...but you're def. gonna run into the older ones, and those you definatley will be able to beat with boltons.

If I calculate out my RWHP, its about 255. New edge GT's have 260, I have 3.73's, and they dont pull much weight on me. The only thing I dont compare to is torque, a V8 will pretty always have us in torque N/A. I need to run a new edge to see how I fair. I know 98 and below is pretty much a lock though.

I assume you mean hp to the crank not rwhp. If you're 255 to the wheels, you're talking 285 at the crank.

Yeah, John's V6 would push me down and take my lunch money. But he has more mods than he might have spent on buying a GT, me thinks.

For over $5000 you can build a V6 that might hang with unmodded GTs but you have to ask yourself "What is the price difference between a V6 and a GT?"

Well, look at the base v6 price. Add a rear sway bar and a supercharger. You could still pull it out for less than a GT. Buy a brand new GT and pay the sales tax on it... ouch.

correct, 255 at the crank.

And when I got my car, GT's were selling for 10 grand more than a V6 with some upgrades.

Ok.. I will only discuss this if we all remain rational and this does degraded into the tired old V6 vs GT thread...

First off, if I was buying a new Mustang today I would buy a GT... that's because today I can go in and get X-plan pricing... BUT... way back in March of 2005 the GT's were $3,000 OVER STICKER! Sorry, i never pay sticker for a car, let alone OVER! So given the X-plan discount I got on the V6, I was looking at an $8,000 difference!

Now personally I would rather spend that $8,000 at places like MRT where I actually get something physical that I can hold in my hands, than give the dealership one extra penny just because they have a car in stock... LOL!

Ok... that my story.. and i'm sticking too it!

BTW... i'll be posting about my lastest mod, Project Can Opener, later today... LOL
