I finally got mine installed. I hit a few roadblocks and couldn't get the stock shifter out for awhile. AND, it was like 95 degrees out with me in the sun... Took me like 2.5 hours, but I took my time and took plenty of breaks so I wouldn't overheat. It looks awesome, shifts great... I just love it. I've had the shifter in my trunk for like 2.5 months, just never had the time to install it until today.

Glad to hear that you like it. I've thought about going Hurst, but I can't bear to ruin the look of the stock shifter. I'll probably go with the Saleen short shift adapter, although i've heard there's nothing quite like a Hurst.

Wally....that's great to hear since I'm having the Hurst shifter installed on my GT next week.
As for how it looks....I love the look. The steel shaft with the white shifter knob is really old school muscle car. Will look really cool right underneath my fuzzy dice that hang from the rv mirror....lol. I may also pick up the black shifter knob as well for a different look every now and then.
Glad to hear I could help, man. I love the look it has in my car. I had to get it back on the ramps today and turn the shifter around as I had the long part that the shift arm goes into turned around. Use threadlocker on the bolt that attaches the shift arm to the shifter. Also, make sure you use those locking washers where the chrome arm attaches to the shifter. It looks and feels good.

No matter how much I tighten those handle bolts, they seem to losen up after quite a bit of shifting... looks like I'll need to use thread tape or a light amount of light-duty threadlocker (so I can still get the bolts out after awhile if needed) on them.

Haha, oops. I noticed that after I posted. Sorry. If I didn't have the 66 to work on, I would have just had the shop do it. But, I wanted to save money and did the install. My hands are scarred and I'm pretty sure I left some DNA somewhere in there several times, but... chicks dig scars. My gf thinks my busted knuckles give me more character, lol. I did finally get it though. The serrations on the handle were not fully engaged with the shifter serrations, so I loosened and readjusted until it locked into place. A little light-duty threadlocker and voila! It feels amazing.

Haha, np, man. If you run into any problems, send me a pm or post on here. I check this everyday. My biggest hurdle was getting the stock shifter out as I was like 2mm short of clearance. I had to bend the end prong-like things back a little and force it out. Once it is out, it's like 15 mins to bolt everything up. The serrations on the black part that the handle attaches to should be facing the passenger side of the car. If it is facing that direction, then you know for sure that the longer side of the linkage that the transmission shift arm attaches to is on the drivers side. Easiest under car installation I've ever had... but I like being above the car, not under it... makes me nervous, haha.
