Default New '05 V6 Owner, looking for good upgrades, please help.

I sent this message to someone on the boards a little while ago, but I figure why not just make a thread and get multiple responses.

I just got one for my first car from my parents, and I am wondering what exactly you do you do to get the performance of the car way up (even though it is pretty kick-ass as it is).

I do not know alot, if anything about cars, and me just recently getting one has really sparked my interest, and I want to know what you do to get the car quicker and faster. (Not as interested in looks as of now, because it is gorgeous as it is)

Can you please tell me details and everything as I do not know much about cars, and try to explain best you can, as well as how much I should be looking at cost wise per upgrade. I do not want extremely pricey things, but not cheap either. Go in order also like the most important first, least important last).

Thank you so much, and thanks for any replies, I really want to get my V6 kickin'.

Cheers,
David.

First and formost, this car will never be blazing fast but it is fun!!! Very Fun!
Start with the simple mods, Cold air kit, Xcal tuner and axle back exhaust. It will be a totally different car I promise you....good luck!

mine is semi fast. I like it. I have the shoty headers, true duals(GT takeoffs)which sound perfect for me. The "must have "tune...no kidding must have and a Steeda CAI.And the GT bumper..no HP increase with that but looks like at least 5 to me. These types of mods will be the ones you notice right away. Gears,t-loc and FAI will only add to you pleasure.
mine surprises a lot of other drivers as I pull away fromthem at the light,,and on the freeway

Ok, now with those must haves, what is that going to run me cost wise, and someone is also going to install these for me correct or no...

And also, where do I go about getting all of these?

Thank you for the quick response.

Thank you for the quick response.
Cold air intake and handheld tuner for around $600 and it's a simple DIY job.

ok..the CAI and tuner vary in price and everyone here has a different prefference. I have the Steeda CAI and SCT tuner. That was a package deal approx $600.00 I am sure there are others at varying prices but I lked the people at Steeda and mine works great. Instal,,,well that is pretty easy if you have and mech ability. The programing is pretty easy also, even for me. Whe I had a doubt the people at the tech support were right there and it ended up being easy...just that first time you press the button on the flash is a leap of faith..lol. But worth it.

The GT mufflers and duals,,$70 for the mufflers,,ebay or other mustang site,,v6mustangstuff forone, dual pipes with H pipe around $200 depending on the muffler shop. A shop should do that,,although I have heard a single gt muffler does well,I preffered duals. GT bumper,,you can get em color matched from lots of places,,around $150.00 or so.They are a simple bolt on,,3 hours max.
Headers,,,$200-400 depending on your preference, easy to install.
My mods took a year to get this far and probably another year for the rest. More time than money..so take it a step at a time working towards an end result,,,and enjoy
