Default talked to the local ford dealer today

so I called up the local ford dealer today to ask them about installing my t-lok today and they said that they could do it but not until the first week of july but they also told me that it would not be under warranty. what's the deal does my ford dealer just suck or is that just that way it is at all the ford dealers? what's up?

Most Ford Racing parts (like the t-lok) are sold "as-is", with the exception of things like crate motors...

Personally i wouldn't go to a dealership for this kind of stuff... find the most reputable speed shop in town... or in my case it was the shop in the next town over...

That's funny. I had my dealership do mine b/c I've always had good luck with their service guys. And, they promised that it would not affect the car warranty and I have a warranty on the parts from them.

Gears are not to be taken lightly. Unless you have experience setting them up, it's best left to an experienced professional.

Yep, i concur. There are good gear shops around. You just have to ask around.

my uncle has been a mechanic for years and and can tell me what to do and show me how to do it so I think I will have him help me. the local ford dealers don't want to do it or waranty it so I might as well do it myself and save 300 bucks and learn something in the process.

I know plenty of experienced mechanics who can't install a set of gears to save their life. But if you take your time and really check the tolerances, you should be ok.

You will need the right tools and gages. Good gages are a must. Check and recheck the measurments. Run the car a very short distance and then open the rear end back up and recheck everything. This also allows changing of the fluid to remove any foriegn objects...such as metal that comes off from new gears meshing....ect.
