Default 2005 Mustang V6 Tunable Inductions kit installed!

Ok, so my Tunable Inductions CAI/X-cal2 kit finally arrived and I couldn't wait to install it so I got to work right away (well, it actually arrived while I was at work, so I started when I got home...).

Fit and finish are great, but i feel a little concerned with the hose that goes from the side of the intake tube to the cam cover; the cam cover side didn't go on as far as I would have liked (it went on a little less than 1/4 inch). Should I worry?

Man, I was shaking up a storm while uploading the new tune - Something about playing around with the computer in the car that I dont like too much. Everything seems to have gone fine though.

Overall an easy install, no problems at all. Almost too easy.

But i'm still a worrier, what things should I check the next couple days to make sure everything is fine?

Oh and I took her around the block for a test drive; she FLIES now.

Congrats... Is the hose too small for the fitting?? Try a little silicone to see if that helps. A small band clamp will ensure it doesn't slip off.

Thanks, I think i'll get a band clamp for both sides. It just doesn't seem right to cram the hose on there and hope to high hell it hangs on - especially with some of my driving.

Silicone? Could you elaborate a bit? You're speaking to a generally non-car-savvy person here.

Gosh that filter's big! I kind of wanted to put it on top of my head and parade around the neighborhood, but seeing as I did my install at 2:30am, my neighbors must ALREADY think that i'm on some kind of drugs.

How quick would a check engine light come on? Would it take more than a few minutes of driving to trigger one?

Congrats! I feel you man, I got my JLT intake yesterday but I can't put it on yet because I am still waiting for my tuner to come from Doug. I can't wait to put it on, and it's like teasing me that I only have half of the package!

Sorry... meant silicone spray lubricant or even a little WD40.

Check engine light would come on after several driving cycles. Are you expecting one for some reason??

haha. i felt just as nervous with my tune...unfortunatley i had gotten a "bad" batch of xcals that wouldnt give the tune to the mustang..i was at a gas station and had already put 89 in it...so after getting all these crazy errors, you could imagine i was a little nervous..but it was just the xcal not giving the tune at all but i got one that wasnt defected and all was well since then

I'm not expecting a check engine light but i'm just a worrier. I've already driven the car a good 40-50 miles today with no lights or buzzers going off so I think everything should be fine. I'm going to buy some hose clamps and WD40 that hose onto there tomorrow for sound of mind.

When I put in the tune, I actually somehow missed the part about how you're (technically) supposed to pull the fuses for your fuel pump and electric fan. So when the tune started uploading, I got all kinds of warnings on my dash saying Low Fuel, Electric System Needs Service, etc and I started freaking out thinking something had gone terribly wrong. I read the instructions over again and noticed that part and thought that i'd probably be running to the store to buy fuses the next day but as soon as the tuner was finished and unplugged the warnings went away and the car runs fine so i'm assuming everything is peachy.

Actually, the car doesn't run fine - it runs GREAT.

Well man welcome to the tuned club. I too go the TI set up and love it. Very easy and like you said almost to easy.
DOn't worry about pulling fuses, the mustang tune loads so fast you don't worry about the other things kicking on like other Ford model cars. Those warnings come ont he car every time you load a tune so don't sweat it.
Now you can adjust shift pressures and MPH where she shifts....lol
As for working on it until 2:30 welcome to modding a mustang....lol
As for the clamps I don't have them and its no problem. If you do lube it go easy you don't want it too slippery.

Yeah, those warning lights can be scary stuff at first, but now I think I might go out and thumb through the parameters I can adjust on the X-cal just for fun. I'm manual transmission so I don't think I can adjust shift points or shift pressure or things like that, unless I use my body. Oh and I don't know if i'll get the clamps or not, it would make for a prettier install I think, more technical looking, fancy, flashy. The sound of mind will be worth the couple of bucks the clamps will cost.

Oh and I didn't finish my install at 2:30am, I started the install at 2:30. I finished at 3:30.

Sorry for the double post but I had to throw this up. I took a few pictures of the intake and sent them to a friend who commented not only on how great the intake looks but how terribly filthy everything else looks! So... How do I clean my engine bay?

Yea, I don't know how you would go about cleaning all of that, but you really should. Usually every once in a while when I pop up the hood, I will give everything a little wipe down, so mine is in pretty good condition.

Good luck with that bro, and hurry, its filthy!

I dont drive on any dirt roads...

I guess its just 46,500 miles worth of crud on there. Any ideas on how to clean it up all nice like yours, MakeMyStang?

I should really take that picture down before MrV see's it. It'll really break his heart...

There are some places that power wash with certain chem degressers and cleaners. Might check with your dealer. Mine is clean because it only has 1k on it and I keep after it to wipe down, dust, etc. Yours would be best to have it professionally powercleaned. Of course the engine must be cool to air temp. Then it will look GREAT.

I'm more of a DIY'er when it comes to cleaning. Funny, i'm pretty anal about keeping the outside and interior clean but I never paid much mind to under the hood until I saw how terrible everything looks compared to that new intake. I took my car to Sears once to get the oil changed and the mechanic forgot to take the old gasket off the oil filter before he put the new gasket and oil filter on so it spewed oil all over my engine bay. Smoked for like a week. SOO angry. SOO.. ANGRY.

Anyways, are there any cleaners/degreasers I could use myself to clean her up? I seem to recall hearing about a product called Simple Green or something like that awhile back...
