Ive gone to many sites looking at Cold Air Intakes and Ive found many brands that make them for our cars such as BBK, AEM, Injen, K & N, C & L, Steeda, Mac, AirRaide and Im sure a bunch of others Im forgetting ... Anyways which brand will I get the most HP gain from...I know I need to get it tuned and all that good stuff but which brand intake do you guys think will produce the most gain??? Thnx!
yeah man there are alot of CAI kits out there...but i went with the WMS intake and tunner pkg... http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/airkittuner.html .....i dynod at 303 rwhp and 321 rwtq just with this intake and tune...tune set on 93 octane....but great hp gains....you might not be putting out the same hp that i do cuz bont stock i had 278 rwhp....which is a stock monster for the 05-07 GT'S...but you will be happy with ths pkg
06six, the tune is where your power increase comes from. A lot of fellas have dyno'd intakes alone (with and without no-tune inserts) and come up with no increase at all. If you see any increase with just an intake, it will be very minimal.
When I bought my intake and tuner, I looked for the best possible price that came with a full intake (tube, filter, heat shield) and tuner with custom tunes for the intake. I finally chose the Tunable Induction kit (www.tunableinduction.com) and have never looked back.
You'll probably be happy with whatever you get, so long as you get a decent tune to go with it.

I have the Steeda set-up with the SCT Xcalibrator2sf (whatever that means)I did not dyno it,except the butt dyno. I can definitely tell the difference. Spins the rear tire quite nicley and hits fwy speeds with ease. I imagine that with all the tuners out there you will only see a minmal difference between them as far as HP and Torque go. There is only so much you can tweak the engine.
My setup started with the Steeda and XCal2. After about a year, I started getting "pipe envy" because the Steeda attaches to the stock air intake hose (which to my eye looked curvy and twisty and not totally conducive to a good stiff straight shot of cold air), so I finally broke down last month and picked up the MMR high flow intake tube. Another 160 beans. If I had to do it over again, I'd go to Brenspeed and get the C&L, XCal2, and 93 tune from Brent. He's got great service, especially for newbs like me.
Dixi was dynoed with what you see in her sig line, minus the MMR, at 196.6 rwhp, which is about 235 or 240 flywheel, and with the 3.73 gears she's plenty spunky from a dead stop!
Good luck, and happy modding!

ok on the stock air tube with the steeda,,,when one goes over to the "X" side dont they also use the stock airtube with a different Box top???On the less expensive of the two X-ers advertised..just curious

Not sure I understand the post, but...for instance, the Brenspeed site advertises the Steeda, the C&L, and the MAC CAIs. Only the C&L comes with its own inlet pipe also. (BTW, JLT is now offering a CAI for the V6, and that has its own pipe as well.) The XCals that come as part of the package are (or should be) loaded with a custom tune to account for the increased airflow, along with other stuff like shift points for auto trannies etc.
Is that what you were asking about? Let me know if not...

I was only thinking of the "inlet tube". The steeda setup uses stock inlet,as you probably know, but so does the X charger. As far as I can see from the instal manual. So I was just curious as to how much of a difference there is ,,just with the "tubes". I know there are a lot of aftermarket tubes I would have liked to have had. The one I wanted most had a few weeks delay on ordering and I wanted it now,,lol ..so steeda fits the bill to I go X.
Go to tunable induction's web site, click the "Dyno charts" link at the top, and scroll down to the third chart, a V6 dyno run with the TI CAI. It's the one that says www.Bamachips at the top
I just got and installed my JLT CAI with Bamachips tunes today. I love it! It took about 2 weeks to get it, but Doug is a very busy man. It was worth the wait. It looks awesome in matching black. Oh what a difference. I just installed the 87 performance tune for now. Can't wait until I can fill up with 93 and try out the torq tune. I'll try to get some pics up soon. Maybe I'll take some this weekend. I'm going to the Mustang and Ford Show at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
