I recently bought a 2007 V6 Torch Red Pony Package Mustang. I love the car, but it has this annoying knocking noise in 3rd and 4th gears at between 1500 - 2500 rpm. At first I thought it was drive train related, but as the car gets a few miles on it it sounds more like an exhaust knock. The dealer has looked at it once and said it was nothing to be concerned about, but its annoying on a brand new car.

Anyone experienced any similar problems?
what you are hearing is exactly what ive been experiencing pretty much from day one. the noise is in the trans, and from what ive been told is normal when you "dog" a gear, meaning when you drive a gear at too low an rpm. i think its bullshit, but i had it checked out with a dealer with 500 miles on the car and was told all is normal. i just live with it now, if the trans falls out of the bottom of the car thats what warranty is for. but i agree with you.

I've got the same "knock" in my car only mine has 47,000 miles on it, with no problems so far. I drive up a pretty decent grade for work every day and thats where I usually hear it. A downshift gets rid of the problem but if I get stuck behind someone who wants to drive at 37 miles per hour I end up driving in 3rd gear whole way.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, seems a common occurance with these cars. Note my careful use of the word "occurance" in place of what could be the word "problem."

I have the exact same thing you are talking about in my 4,000 mile 07 (had it since brand new). It's annoying and does piss me off b/c it is a brand new car, but the dealership said everything looked okay. Mine kind of knocks and thumps.

Can you guys provide a manufacture date for your cars. I am in the process of getting Ford to address the knocking noise. If we can identify a manufactured date range for this problem it would benificial to all. Please confirm that we are talking about the knocking noise between 1500 - 2500 rpm under light acceleration in any of the five gears.

I wonder if anyone that has replaced their driveshaft has this problem
I have the Same Problem as well. It usually happens when i go from 3rd Gear to 4th Gear....and most of the time its when i am going up a hill and i am doing around 1900 RPM....

I too am dealing with this same annoyance..I just bought an 07 V6 5-spd with 10,500 miles on it...I am taking it to the dealership in the morning and they are supposed to tear down the tranny and try to figure it out. I am not picking up my car until they fix the problem..
There is currently an FSE (Field Support Engineer) in Clearwater Florida working this issue with the Ford engineers on a Mustang that is exhibiting the same problem. It looks like a resolution may be coming soon.
Ok, got the car back from the dealership. They say its a normal characteristic...I say thats a bunch of bull***t...Maybe on a car with 100,000 miles on it, damn sure not on a car with under 15,000 miles on it...Thye told me to keep checking back to see if any service bulletins come out on this issue...I honestly believe its pure laziness on the dealership not wanting to dig further into this and check all parts involved with the drivetrain and suspension...Before I know it, the warrranty will expire and then they will find the problem and rape me to fix it...Bastards!
Yep, I loved my v6, but when I had the a/c on and was going through hard acceleration, the driveshaft area knocked like no one's business. I got so sick of it, I moved up to a GT... no noises on the GT/Cs of the same year... we'll see about the bullitt. I got my v6 custom ordered , built late March of 07 and delivered april 2, 2007. It really did bother me to the point that I couldn't take it anymore.
