so i have a standard v6 mustang '06 coupe. I'm not pleased with the fact that it only has 210 hp and I am thinking of buying a new motor - perhaps a boss 302 cylinder block (this is just an idea) and building the whole darn thing from start to finish. I'm trying to go for hp, but I don't want to have to give up driving it everyday for the sake of acquiring more speed. Can anyone give me some ideas on motors which could increase my overall hp/torque without increasing my chances of not being able to drive this car on a day to day basis. Does the boss 302 cylinder block work? If so, what about the cams, headers, fuel injector/carborator? I need ideas and I need them fast. I have the money, but my time is short and I want to make sure I get the best bang from my buck. I currently have $11,200 in the bank.
yes i understand that the request is quite "out there", but i've always liked the idea of having a sleeper car. Being that i lack the mechanical knowledge to fulfill this dream, it will take me quite some time until i can get to par on what I need, when I need it, and when the time is right, i will pull it off. I hope...
Yea I'm going to have to agree with everyone. I would pick up a GT if your not happy, or start modding your V6. The V6 isn't a bad car to mod at all, it responds well to bolt ons and tunes. It has a ton of potential. 10k plus on a motor doesn't seem worth it like the other guys said. A Super charger is about 5k if I'm not mistaken, so shoot for that instead of a GT and make it a sleeper that way.

We took the wifes V6 for a cruise in the mountains yesterday and I am very impressed with the torque from the V6. It pulls steady on the long hills with very little need for down-shifting. My wife complains about it's lack of power, compared to my GT, but I think the V6 is a strong performer. Now to get a 91 premium tune in it to see what it will do.

If I take your approach, what kind of supercharger do you recommend?

Trade up to a GT is most likely your best choice.
With an engine exchange you are also looking at a new bolt up tranny.

I'm not sure what the difference in the brands are. There is roush, whipple, and many others. Might wanna send a PM to STLwagon he knows a lot about this type of stuff. I'm sure you will get a response here. One thing I am pretty sure of is a SC is in the price range of 5k give or take a little. May have to forge your ther engine parts, but I'm sure if you start a thread about something like that you will get some great responses. Wish I could be more help man.
In the end you could always trade your V6 in for a GT THEN start modding with a tune, CAI, SC and all that stuff. Thats up to you.

I went with X Charger (Explorer Express) Installed it myself.
Less than 4k

speaking of gt's.. i looked a few up and i found a 2007 mustang gt california special that's up for $25,985.. 300hp not bad, not bad. has fake hood scoops and side scoops though...
what does everyone think? should i just trade in my v6? if i do, what kinds of mods should i think of for this new stang?

If you do start modding get a tune, CIA, and exhaust first off then get some gears from there. I just looked up some prices on 207 GTs in my area, they want a little over 30k for them which is crap. They want 25k for V6 deluxe packages. I payed 18k for my premium with leather, spinners, shaker 500 and it ended up being a total of 13k with my trade in. I was really happy with what I payed. Look for a deal. You already took a huge hit by just driving your V6 off the lot, they will give you 5k less or more than you payed for in it if you trade up for a GT. You will end up losing money every way you look at it if you trade up, your best bet would have been to grab a good deal on a GT in the first place. Theres nothig wrong with a V6. You can always mod it and make it a kick a$$ sleeper.

Stay with the V6. Mine is mildly modified, headers, duals,Cai and SCT tune,3:73's and a T-loc diff. Beat a GT and Grand Sport Buick Skylark the other day at a car show Hole Shot event. Granted it was only a 100' run...but made my day
Next year with FI it will be better.
If you stay with teh V6, you'll definitely need to get a LSD. If you S/C it, get and Auburn Gear or Detroit Locker, the FRPP LSD for the 7.5" isn't rated for a whole lot of HP. I think 250-300. Also get a set of sway bars (maybe GT Take-offs), subframe connectors, rear-end girdle, etc....
