3M hood pin removal? 2006 Mustang V6

well...the hood pins on my car look great...theyre 3m no drill hood pins i got from american muscle.com...except i took the wrong meaurements and the left one is 1/4 higher than the right one

... ive askd a few buddies and everyone tells me to use a hair dryer or a heat gun to heat up the tape and it should come off w/o damaging the paint... well ive also heard heat guns will damage your paint and that a hair dryer might not heat it up enough...is there any other way to get the hood pin off or am i screwed?

True about the hair dryer not getting hot enough, and the heat gun scorching the paint. But if you use the heat gun slowly, as in heat it a bit, back off and then do it again, you can get it off. Just don't sit it there, that's when you'll burn the paint. Do it slowly and it'll work. You'll be able to feel when the adhesive releases.

You can get it off with fishing line, should not be that hard beig they are fresh. Then go and get new 3m tape at you locak auto place and redo that install.

The fishing line trick is the best way to remove anything that is taped down on your car. That stuff is alot stronger than you would think.

problem solved! actually i went ahead and tried the blow dryer b/c i dont have a heat gun and after 5 min it came off pretty easily...then i just went to o'reilly auto and got some new tape... it was an easier fix than i thought...thanx for all the help

A nice hot sunny day might have worked as well. I've had a windshield so hot it gave me a first degree burn when I touched it.
