Default Automatic Headlights For A 2006 Mustang

Hey everyone,
Just found the group, place looks awesome! I just got back in to the Mustang game after many many years. Had a 68 GT ragtop and a 73 back in the 70's and 80's, kicking myself for getting rid of them when I went in to the service...oh well. Now I got a new toy, a 2006 ragtop V6. Love it so far. Only thing I wish it had was automatic headlights, even lights that I could keep the switch in the on position and they would shut off automatically when the ignition is turned off. I know I could rig up some relays for it, but hoping there was something cleaner. Auto headlights would be ideal. Ideas?
Thanks!
-Brian

Sorry, can't help with your question but welcome to the forum. I don't know of any kit to do what you want with the headlights.

I am not too sure but I think I have left my lights on before and locked my car with the remote and it turned them off. I always press the lock twice. Give it a try

I thought the automatic headlights are an option from the dealer. Might want to check with them.

I know that from webelectric.com you can get a daytime running light kit, maybe that can be modified to headlights. I got the sequential turn signal replacement kit from them,,,very nice.

Ah if we'd only kept the cars of "our " youth we'd be rich..lol

I talked w/ WebElect about using their DRL module on the driving lamps (I drive a GT). The reply was that the load would be marginal for their DRL module. It is designed for the parking lights which draw many less amps. I bought a DRL module from Ford originally indended for an F-150 (I think). It's still on the shelf, but several folks have successfully installed that. You can get the headlamps or driving lamps but it does not light up the tail lamps.

Thanks for all the responses. I tried the leaving them on, even with the duoble click of the alarm button, nada... Even waited 2 minutes, they stated on. Thing that bugs me is I went to my local stealership today and they said there is no such kit or way to do it. Even the owners manual (yes I read it, flogged me if need be..) shows an automatic position. I asked the dealer about it and they said it's just a generic picture from another car. DRL's would be nice, might add them at some point, but don't address the tail lights as another poster has mentioned. I still find myself driving off without the lights on at dusk because the dask lights up like the headlights are on. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to them. Very surprised it doesn't already have them, every car I've had in the past 5 or 6 yrs has had automatic lights.
