Default Replacement of rear brake pads on 2005 mustang

I have removed all four caliper bolts, but the caliper does not release the brake pads. I need to know if there is another step in removing pad on rear brakes. Someone please help. On front brakes they just pop off.

Default assuming disc

I usually take the top cover off the brake fluid resevoir, then use a C-clamp to push the caliper bore in before sliding it off. I haven't done our Stang brakes but a lot of others and they are all pretty similar.

Yeah you'll likely need to compress the pistons to get them off.

I have a ball peen hammer that has an oval handle the right dimensions for compressing the pistons; put it in sideways (narrow dimension) and twist it by using the head as a handle, it pushes them back just the right amount.

Default Nope

You need the SPECIAL TOOL that TWISTS the pistons while you push it in. Advance had a cube that wouldn't work. The tits on it were not suitable. Got another one which did work. If you have a HUGE needle nose plyers and strength like the hulk you can avoid the tool. Front calipers don't need this. Just a c-clamp. Broke 2 c-clamps on the rear before reading that you need a special tool in the SM. Has to do with the parking brake stuff inside the piston. Twist and Shout (well really TURN) the piston as you push it in. Used a 3/8 drive extension and socketwrench and pushed like hell.BIGHANK
