Arrow 2006 Mustang V6 Engine Build Up Question

i posted this in power adders also a few days ago but im just inpatient i guess...

I have been looking at my options and want to sometime in the future go with either:
X-Charger from explorer express or
a powerhouse pipeline turbo kit

I am not asking a question about those brands in specific but i do need to know which parts of my engine those two aplications put the most stress on.
do i need to replace them with forged parts?
i have read about shops like supersixmorotsports that have rebuild kits for the V6 but i would like to know from someone with expierience, is it necessary and worth the money?

any info with be helpful

Default It's a craps shoot.

I've been looking at vortek and another super charger for some time. Some people get away with it and some people don't. It's hard to say why one motor will blow during the dyno while another motor (exactly the same) will like it just fine. From what I understand by talking with so many people and reading so many articles, it really is a craps shoot. You don't kknow if you have a motor that's going to hold up to it until after you do what you're going to do. If you forge the motor, that's when you get some kind of assurance that it's going to handle it. I read from a book today that said the cast pistons are what usually gets the most abuse in a factory engine that got supercharged. I don't know what kind of effect turbo has. I havn't looked at those. I would have done the paxton or vortek already, but I don't want to destroy my motor and I don't want to pay thousands more to have it forged. If you don't have it forged first, just make sure you don't go over 8 pound injecters. I hope that was of some kind of help. So far, nobody has helped me with my throttle body question.

There have been plenty of people on here with Vortech and other superchargers that don't have any problems. You should check out the forums over at The 4.0 Collective Forums - Powered by vBulletin, they're strictly 2005+ 4.0 mustangs over there, and there are tons of people with Vortechs, X-chargers, and even some turbos.

Merc - Sorry that noone has answered your post but we can only help with the things we know about. Hopefully someone 'in the know' on that subject will chime in, but until then try not to get too upset. You might also consider asking that question over at 40collective.com

Thank you. I will try 40collective. that sounds like a good try. I know I made it sound like success with a supercharger was even odds. I didn't mean it like that. It's just that I know of enough not-so-good outcomes that make the risk worth considering closely. I do know of more people who have had success than failure with superchargers, but considering how much it costs and how often failure has happened, I don't want to be one of those unlucky ones and I would strongly recommend that people do what it takes to avoid that. Thanks again for the tip on the other site.
