Default 2005 V6 Throttle Body Spacer Question

Hey everyone, another question for you all.

I was looking at getting a Throttle body spacer. But i was reading on the net (autozone/kragen) that they are illegal in the state of california due to emmisions. The thing is, i had one on my Tundra and it passed smog.

Anyone in Sunny Cali have one installed? and if they were able to pass smog?

Fits between the throttle body and the intake plenum. Some say it helps atomize fuel better. I've never been a big fan.

So do they work? i bought it for my truck cause it make a sweet sucking sound when i gunned it... yeah i know... but if there's no preformance gains (numbers) and it's just hear say then i'm gonna save my 40 bones and put it on something else... but the main question is that if putting one on a pony will make you fail smog checks?

Not sure which one you're looking at... I do know that the Motorvator TB spacer is CARB exempt and the Helix is Fifty States Legal (C.A.R.B # D516-2).

haha Yes sirry. The STi is my brother's car pushing 21.5 PSI of boost on stock turbo (stock PSI is 14.5)

The SRT-4 is also a decently modded car (stock turbo, but Daddy paid for everything to be done. Daddy also owns a shop and a dealership, so it's not like they didn't have money haha)

Throttle body spacers are notorious for being useless around these parts.

marshall, you've beaten a tC in your v6? My neighbor has a tC and keeps claiming he'll mop the floor with me. He's got a few bolt on's; intake, cat-back exhaust. I've got an intake/tune, exhaust, and a Hurst short throw shifter.

I dont want to make it worse by telling him that I think i'd beat HIM...

I figured... My bro raced that guy in my friends stock '98 mustang GT and beat him pretty good, and my car beat that GT when they were both stock so I figure with my exhaust and tune i'm pretty well off...

I love my 40's (single for now). the sound? awesome, a nice rumble on start up (sets off alarm warnings). A very deep sound, at high rev when it's screaming it does have a higher pitch but that's cause it's a 6 and not an 8. Definately not ricey. they're high pitched at all RPM. The sound is great, the small preformance gains are awesome (80-100mph). All in all i love them, and they dont seem ricey to me, so who cares about what everyone else thinks... if they dont like it, they can pay my car note and buy me the parts... haha, ok, i'm done

Default RE: Spacer

Yeah, I had an MMR spacer back in the day. It seemed to help throttle response a little, but no HP gain. And if you plan on putting on a new intake, it could push the intake out of it's normal mounting position possibly causing install problems. I eventually took it off for just that reason. You gotta wonder too, if adding that extra length on the TB (like half an inch at best) really did so much, then why didn't Ford just slap a piece between there? Definately not worth the money. Don't make the same mistake a lot of us did. It does spruce up the engine bay slightly however. But it's about as hepful for horsepower as a dipstick.

I have a MMR spacer. It doesn't do any harm but I don't think it does any good either. Looks nice but your money is better spent elsewhere.
