Bamachips 87 Octane Performance Tune vs. 91 Octane performance or torque
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone is running a Bamachips 87 octane performance tune on their V-6. I am considering purchasing tunes from Bamachips and was looking for feedback on the three turnes they recommend (87 performance, 91/93 performance, 91/93 torque) and which one most users would recommend for daily driving. I currently do not have any other modifications on my stock mustang. I am hoping the tune will add a few more ponies and tighten up my automatic transmission response a little.
Thanks,
Jeff
I ran the 87 tune from Bamachips for awhile. But after feeling the difference of the 93 torque tune I haven't gone back to it. The 87 tune will help with the auto tranny, but the 93 tunes make a bigger difference over stock. My stang sees more city driving than highway so the torque tune is my favorite.
Thats whats been keeping me from buying my Bama tune. I want a 91 torque tune, but do much more highway driving and would probably be better suited for a performance tune.

I have all 4 of his tunes (87 perf, 91 perf, 91 torque, 91 race) and I've tried them all in my v6 auto. My personal favorite and the one I use all the time is the 91 race tune. The dyno charts show almost a flat line for both the torque and hp with the race tune. It will chirp the tires at the 2nd and 3rd shifts (I think I'm doing around 60 when it hits 3rd).
Here's a dyno chart of the 87 perf tune. Somewhere I have the other ones and I'll throw them up if I find them.

Don't, your car is tuned to use 93, you might get some pinging and popping, I wouldn't suggest it for the overall health of your car. I have the Bamachips 93 custom race tune and I am a daily auto trans driver...go for it! You won't have any regrets!
I used a 93 tune when I had my 05 V6 and it worked wonders for my auto tranny. Reduced the throttle lag a ton and the performance was great. Not to mention the way the car jumped into shifts.
