Default 2005 V6 CAI + Tuner Combo question

happy Tuesday everyone! I just got back from my trip to Indiana, and noticed a lack of Mustangs out there. It made me sad. oh well, but back on track. If you've read some of my other threads you know that i'm going to get the CAI/Tune combo soon. So here's my questions.

will the tune give me the ability to go over 112 mph? with the limiter on there now that's as fast as i can go, and having a speedometer that goes to 120 it's just a tease. I'm not saying that i will go that fast, i just want to know that if a situation arises where i would have to go faster than 112 that i will be able to.

Thesis over, commence the answers!!!

If your tuner is a sct and like the GT then yes you should be able to turn the speed limiter off.

You absolutely can turn off the speed limiter.

Go with Bamachips...they took great care of me! I got the C&L CAI w/ SCT Xcal2 Tuner (you can turn off the speed limiter, I did!) and the 93 custom race tune...You might want to think of some suspension upgrades before going that route though, it will make the car much more stable, safer and easier to handle. I suggest going with the Roush suspension, my boyfriend has the entire Stage 2 suspension package. I will be ordering it shortly..it made a huge difference for him...drive safe!

thanks for the advice Grabber. I'm looking through the Bama website right now. the JLT/Xcal2 is right in my wheel box. I dont think i'm going to go for the 93 Octane tunes since at the gas stations 91 is easier to find and with prices as bad as they are now the little i can save the better. Here's a follow up. If i order from Bama it comes with two tunes. I'll prolly go for the 91 torque and some other.
Do these tuners also come with the stock tune?
or do i have to make that one of my choices?
Here some more questions
Do these Tunes change the timing of the engine?
If so, If i have the 91 Torque tune and i have to go to the dealer. I change it back to stock with 91 in the tank (no biggie) but if i have 87 in the tank and i switch to 91 tune will that mess up my engine?

when you put the new tune in your car the old or stock tune is locked into your SCT or similar tuner.you can return to stock anytime and still keep the custom tunes loaded in the sct. The grade of fuel only matters when running a 91 octane tune with 87 octane gas.
some tuners,,lock the stock tune in the tuner so you cant share files with other mustangs, that why they ask for the code on your cars module. with some scts' you can erase all the preloaded tunes and add your own,but until you return to stock tune, its locked to your specific car...I think

I am pretty sure that mine is locked to my car but I am also pretty positive that on the tuner somewhere is an option to change the car setting. Have a good night!

ok, so I can choose two custom tunes and that's not including the stock tune which will get pulled off the car and onto the tuner. 87 in the tank with a 91 tune will screw with the engine. so when you all take your ponies to the dealer for warranty stuff do you all just keep the 91 in the tank? what would be the proccess of phasing out 87 in the tank and adding 91? do you run it dry then start with a fresh tank of 91?

when I changed my tune,so to speak,,,first i changed the fuel. It didnt take long to do. First fill was at less than 1/4 tank. Next one about the same. Then I felt it was good enough to change the tune.
I have yet to take my car in for any warranty work but when you do just re flash to stock. No fuel problems at all.
I think that the Xcalsct2 tuner holds three tune and your stock tune. Need to check with whomever you go with on that.I dont know if you will use more than one though,,its your prefrence on that.
