I'm with you STL but I wonder if when people throw out numbers do they mean crank or wheel HP? I always speak on WHP as that is what you actually use. If you can get a 10% increase of the stock crank HP and get that to the wheels, namely about 30 on the GTs and 20 on the V6 then you are doing great. The math works on the GTs but the sixers are more around 8% -9% increase.

I don't know how to translate WHP to crank HP so if you added 20 WHP I can only guess what the crank HP would be; and the guess would probably be wrong.

Question?

Do you need to do a reprogram with a flowmaster or other exhaust mod?

What is the GT exhaust I see mentioned over and over - is it what it sounds like - an exhaust of a Mustang GT? Where would you get one and are they really cheaper then a flowmaster? Will extra noise be annoying? Just looking for something along the lines of a stock GT throaty sound and maybe a small HP and MPG gain. Also - are these simple bolt ons. (plan on staying with single exhaust).

Just got my stang. It's a 2006 Stampede edition and man was I impressed with the power of this base engine! I've owned two 1972 V8 mustangs and this pony is at least equal in performance.

Where can you get a GT axle back? Ebay, this forum, several sponsors to this site and so on, use the search feature above.

Is it simple? If you have a metric box wrench and socket it should take you between 30-45 minutes and you don't need to jack up the car either.

I've heard the GT takeoff on a v6 (helped put one one a friends car)
and it's mellow but a nice improvement over the stock piece.

Expect to pay about $50-$75 for the item. I don't know what the other brands cost ie FLowmasters etc ( I have Pypes street pros because I like loud) If you want an inexpensive, simple improvement to a sixer, then the gt takeoff should be your first step.
