Default Passenger seat air bag light goes on and off, 2005 Mustang V6

Hi, I'm a first time threader, and was hoping to get a resolution to a problem with my air bag. Whenever someone kinda light (around 120 lb)is in the passenger seat, the air bag light goes on and off. Ford gave a response to have the passenger sit up straight. Any suggestions???

Welcome to AFM

The air bag goes on and off based on the weight of the person in the seat. If the person is not heavy enough, the air bag can really damage them. There is no problem.

120 Pounds, seems like the person may be sitting wierd or something.. Tell them to sit upright!

It doesn't seam to matter how they sit, it still does it. I could understand if they weighed under 80lbs, but over 100??

When I bought my car the airbag light would come on and stay on like there were groceries or something on the seat when it was empty. I took it to the dealer and they said they adjusted it (they did fix it). That leads me to believe that there is something adjustable for weight that can be calibrated up or down.

it does it to me when my fiance rides with me. shes over 100lbs, but if she slouches, it goes off, because not 100lbs is on the seat anymore, most of the weight is more towards the ground or elsewhere. its kinda normal...
