There is no benefit to running higher octane than the car is tuned for, but no major harm either. Octane is a rating of detonation resistance. Basically higher octane fuel burns a little slower. There is some chance that running higher octane might result in an incomplete burn and a little carbon build-up over time, but a tank or two shouldn't be any big deal.
thx never even thought about there being a down side always just thought if they gas got old because of the small amount of miles that it would be a good thing guess thats why you ask T:laugh2:hanks
They might be able to get a tad more power if they could run more timing. But the power to dollars spent wouldn't be in your favor I don't think if you had to spend $200 or more. If there is any gain it'd be marginal.
Tuners can often make more HP......the things to be wary of is stressing engine but getting too close to limits (both mechanical and gas) and I've heard sometimes they can tune and you only see gains on paper not in the real world.
How long does a tank last you. Less than 2/3 months don't worry.....more than consider fuel stabilizer.
Yeah I guess there is some potential benefit there, hopefully not needed but the one time it prevents a problem could be big.
Runningman, can you get 94 regularly? If so you might mix 91 and 94 to get a little safety margin.
Also some of the "premium" fuels claim to have a better detergent additive package but I don't know if there is any substance behind that, or just marketing fluff.
You might talk to your tuner to ask if they could get a significant improvement on 94. I guess it depends on how conservative they had to be for 91.
Great input guys yes i have 94 available but not interested in bringing the car closer to the edge it was a fairly conservative tume to get 420 rwhp and i dont drive the car hard no racing and yes i do warm the tires occasionly?
