How Long Will A Stock Motor Last w/ Low Boost Supercharger?

I have heard many different opinions and I know there is no exact answer but can a stock motor last more than 50,000 miles with a low boost (5psi) supercharger set-up? I longest I have seen through the forums is around 25,000. Any ideas?

There is no exact answer! If you are looking for something to last forever, buy a diesel. Your factory engine will last plenty long with a good tune, appropriate fuel and maintanence.

as long as you follow your maintenance schedule, as well as the schedule on the blower itself, and don't redline the car, you should be fine way beyond 50,000 miles. everyone gets soooooo scared about superchargers on these cars. if you find the right information about superchargers, then you won't be so scared. a low boost s/c is not going to fail at around 25,000 miles.

I dont think there is one single answer here, many factors to consider. Dont drive it like you stole it, dont use the rev limitor as your tach, stay on top of the maint.,and a real, real good dyno tune that is just for your car.

My 03 has 48K miles and runs great with 15psi. There is a guy on another board that has close to 200K miles with his Cobra and running great. It's all about the tune and maintenace. Also when you drive normal, you're not even in boost, still pulling vacuum.

in theory... if you never dip into the boost, the engine will last equally as long as a N/A car! like the others have said, keep on top of the maintenance and the car will treat you very well.

Well at over 120K miles I put a Kenne Bell running 6psi on my 96 cobra a year ago, it runs better than ever, I'd estimate I've put over 10K miles on it since then it it's no worse for wear... now I had it tuned and don't 1/4 mile it every chance I get, but I do love to feel that boost!, but to say a car would only go 25,000 is pure folly...esp a Terminator which basically has a bullet proof engine

Are yo guys kidding me? Shouldn't a supercharged engine last as long as a stock 4.6 as long as it's maintained and got the right tune and not beaten on? Why wouldn't it last 200K miles in most cases?

it all depends on your driving habits. if you will notice, most guys who blow their motors are either at the track or going WOT on the street. they don't blow their motor cruising at 2,000 rpm's around town. If you drive normally (which is a challenge with a blown motor) it will last as long as a N/A motor. I for one would be able to have a low boost motor last 10-15 years because i don't drive like i stole it. I romp on the gas maybe once every 2 weeks, thats about it. I prefer to cruise knowing i have one of the fastest cars on the road and i'm not buried under speeding tickets
