Default Stalling issue with FRP Hot Rod Cams

Installed Hot Rod cams and Dyno tuned to 320 RWHP. The idle is now set at 650RPM. Now and then when I let off the gas and come to a stop the RPM drops to around 200RPM and sometimes stalls. Anybody with these cams experience this? I have to get it back to the tuner. Mods include SCT tune, CAI, CM delete plates, high flow cats and X pipe.

Normally the idle is set 850 RPM. If you have a hand held tuner try changing the idle speed and see if that makes a difference.

Yeah, I lowered my idle on my nearly stock car one time and it would do the same thing. Just raise it back up to 750-900 rpm and you should be fine.

I have the FRPP Hot Rod cams as well. Do you know if you tuner left on the adaptive learning? I do not have the surging or stalling on my car after the 1st day of driving. The computer was able to correct the idle. It hovers at 850 at idle.

I will check with him when I bring it in. The idle is set at 850, not the 650 I stated.

Adaptive learning will help the idle bouncing and within a couple days it should not stall anymore. The bouncing on mine has never completely gone away though. It seems to help to put it in neutral and let out on the clutch when coasting, but when just rolling down a hill in neutral or with the clutch depressed at 10mph, mine still bounces.

Mine bounces also. I usually let the engine brake the rpm slightly as I roll up to a stop light to keep it from bouncing. Bumping to neutral when coasting also works but still get the bouncing where the engine braking sometimes does not. My idle is currently around 750. I sometimes get the stalling, but rarely. I like the lower idle to get that lope. I also get more clutch chatter at the lower rpm.

If it's stalling, it needs a new tune.

The symptoms you are talking about are the same as if you had a dirty throttle body too... this is not necessarily the issue, but as easy as it is to fix - it's worth checking... it can be visibly clean with dirt and grime still messing with the speed of the throttle body blades - and the increased air flow multiplies the issue.

Same issue when the FRPP Hot Rod Cams were installed on the wife's car - I emailed for a new tune and it was sent (thanks again Doug) but before I installed the new tune, the problem had gone away - it was while researching the 'stumbling at parking lot speeds' issue that I came across the "clean the throttle body" fix

Thanks, if the weather is OK, (no snow) I am going to try to get it back to the tuner next week. I will check the TB but I believe it is clean. Could the CM delete plates have anything to do with this?

Problem is definately in the tune. This is not uncommon with rough idle cams. There are other threads on here related to this. Your tuner should be able to correct it. I also agree that 650rpm idle speed is too low.

I noticed it was a bit more profound when I installed my delete plates.

The guy who dyno tuned my car his idle a bit on the fat side to prevent this on my car. I have no idle surging or hunting all all. I can drive the car like stock. Now I can even lug it under 1k with no bucking or shuddering. At idle I am at 14.7 afr. On the down side it does smell a bit rich at idle. Oh well. My car is just as easy to drive as a factory cammed car
