What's SC Belt Slip?

Can someone describe to me what belt slip feels like with a Twinscrew?

I was blasting onto the highway this morning from a dead stop, threw it into second gear, mashed the gas and, the engine had a 1 second hickup where the car didnt respond.

Was the car cold or up to operating temps? Just curious, I'm not so sure it's limited to positive displacement blowers. I get those same hiccups from my Procharger when it's not fully warmed up and not sure what it is but sounds the same...curious to hear what everyone says anyway...

Lag in power or a stumbling affected, belt rubber burning smell and squealing sound from engine compartment. I had all till I installed a thumper racing belt tensioner. But that's from a roots style not a twin screw.

Way too much to list. I'm broke because of it. Tuned by Blue Collar Performance.

You floored it and it hiccup for a second and then ran hard like normal or did you let off the gas when it did that? Doesn't sound like belt slip to me. I know on mine, there was black dust on the idlers and it wouldn't go back past 5 psi (max for mine is 15psi). But there was no hiccup. During wot and shifting i get that sometimes but that's a fuel problem (PPRV).

It was pretty hard for me to look at everything, gauges, rpms, etc while tryin to merge onto a highway, but...

When I came across the hiccup I may have let off the gas slightly and the power came on after as second, and then I mash the gas back down. Then everything ran like normal and boost was kicking in. But during that hiccup I cannot recollect much besides the fact I couldn't hear any blower whine. Almost as if all power to the driveline was cut, but the motor was still running.

I didn't hear any squealing or smell of anything like burning rubber.

Possibly a tune issue with the throttle?

I would think that belt slip would happen more often at higher rpm/boost than down low. When the power to spin the blower exceeds the driving force of the belt.

You will see plenty slip on the 6 rib set up. Just check your engine bay. Run your finger around the inside of the upper pulley and look at all the dust. That is from your belt, however, what you are describing does not sound like belt slippage. You will usually feel the belt slip at higher rpms and between your 3-4 shift. Depending on your exhaust, you can usually hear the whine will stop increasing in pitch and power feels like it will plateau.

Were you crusing for a while before you had your blast. It could be the TSB for the stumble after highwayt cruise. My car after driving down a highway and then entering into another highway would stumble the first time I would floor it after steady driving. GT500 fuel system cured that pretty quick.

That hickup used to happen to me alot when my MAF was installed wrong and then again when i had a bad tune. since i fixed the MAF and had a good tune installed it has gone away. maybe your bypass valve malfunctioned and didn't route your air the right way between shifts because that could happen. I would worrie about it unless it happens again. Just wondering, how long have you had your blower?

That's what Tillman said. I guess I got overly paranoid from everyone getting tensioners with a basic SC install on these forums.
