Too little info.

What gears do you have now?
What do you hope to accomplish?
Auto or manual transmission?
Are you staying naturally aspirated?
Do you drag race?
What tires, suspension mods do you have?

Etc etc etc

don't listen to anyone who recommends some gear without answering such questions...

Way to vague of a question without knowing your future plans for the car and your current setup.

Stock now but plan to mod looking for faster acceleration . The gears that are in it now are 3.55's. Wondered if 4.10's lower the top speed to much.

4.10s will not lower top speed that much, in fact our cars top speed is hindered by aerodynamics and I believe it's governed also. You will still be able to reach 145-150 with 4.10s.

Since you already have 3.55s it would be a waste of time and money to go to 3.73s. I went from 3.55s to 4.10s and I am glad I did. 4.10s are just fine for hwy use; I drive about 55 miles a day on the hwy and I have zero complaints.

Good thing I started out with 3.31's.... :nogrinner

Any mod's are a waste of money unless this is how you're making your living.....

If you have any intention of going FI, hold off... As mentioned earlier, too little info... AND there is no right answer...... When my car was NA, I felt 3.73's were perfect. Now that my car is SC I wonder what the 3.31's would feel like.....

Do a search. There have to be a zillion different threads on gears....

Even then it's really personal preference.....

Here's a quote for you..... DON'T FEAR THE GEAR!!!! 4.10'S ARE FOR WUSSES!!!!! NO LESS THEN 4.30'S OR GO HOME!!!!!! -jk

I have 3.90's. I have no problem going 145 mph with the 20" tires. With the 127300 Compcams and the 3.90 gears, the acceleration is 0-80 mph in 6 seconds with a Brenspeed 93 octane race tune. With 15" drag radials the car has been up to 165 mph.

not to be smart, but how do you know you don't have 3.31's like most 07's?

It has 3.55's. I know quite a bit about cars, just haven't done very much performance upgrading on mustangs 05's and newer.

You still have not said if it's a stick or an auto. I don't want to just assume that it's a stick, but if it is 4.10s might be a bit deep. I would go with 3.90s if it's a stick and 4.10s for auto. That as stated earlier depends on what your future plans are for the car. I have an auto that's N/A with 4.10s and it's a blast to drive. It will however brake the rear tires loose at the drop of the peddal. The deeper gears will give your car more of a hair trigger.

Forged bottom end, Ported heads, Saleen super charger, 2.8 blower pulley/15psi, Dual stage water to air intercooler, AFCO heat exchanger, battery relocated, Twin GT500 fuel pumps, T-56 trans, Aluminum flywheel, Aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 rear gears, Eaton TruTrac Diff, TA Performance rear end girdle, Racecraft suspension system, UCA, LCA, panhard bar, 15" slotted front rotors w/ 6 piston calipers, Carbon Fiber front splitter/rear diffuser, and bunch of other stuff
RWHP/RWTQ is adequate

3.55s were not an option for autos so we can assume he has a manual. I wouldn't get 3.90s as the only company that makes them is motive and unless the install is 100% they are susceptiable to gear whine.

That's what I was thinking but I hate to assume. I know about the wine, I just don't 3.73s would be worth the cost and 4.10s might be overkill.
