Default Gas Pedal Problem

Car is an 06 GT, from what I know stock. Anyways, it has a delay when I push the pedal and then kicks in and catches up with it. It happens only on take off from a dead start, not when already cruising. Like it does not recognize I have pushed it for a second or two. I did a little research and all I see is how to retrain the pedal. Is this a possible fix or any other ideas? I will try that tomorrow, but open to suggestions. Thanks

A custom tune will take care of the "throttle lag" you're experiencing. Common for the factory PCM program to cause that delay.

Just put a tune from Steeda on mine. The throttle is now much more responsive. In my case, the custom tune they did for me makes it much easier to drive around town (manual transmission).

I had the same thing with the 06 I bought four months ago. One of the guys from the forum suggested a gas pedal retrain as follows.

Key on accessory, engine off.
Slowly depress the pedal all the way to the floor and release slowly as well.
Shut off ignition. I removed the key as well but I'm not sure you need to.
Insert key, start engine drive away.

It definitely made a BIG difference for me .... and it was free.

Bill, I tried that and think it is much better but not perfect. How much is a tune anyways. Don't really need anything special. Thanks

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body? I had similar issues until i cleaned it. First i took a clean cloth and wiped the inside as much as i could reach and the cloth was black. That made a difference, then i bought some Throttle Body cleaner and that also helped. Try the rag first, it's free.
