Default 4.6L Oil consumption

Just reached about 1100 miles on my 2007. Checked the oil and it's down half a quart which is a big relief as I had a 1977 Cobra II that burned lots of oil right from new.

Any wondering on others experience with oil consumption on the V8s. Anyone had any issues?

The 3V suffers a great deal from PCV blow-by. A number of us have installed oil separators to keep the oil from getting sucked into the intake. I collect about two tablespoons every other day (after around 80 miles).

Not sure if this is the same thing but I started the car the other day and I am pretty sure there was some smoke in the garage. Not sure of the color the car had been sitting for almost a week. There was no smoke coming out the exhaust when I pulled the car out.

I change the oil every 5,000 miles and I've never had to add any between changes.
I've had the car at the track since the 3rd day I owned it.
Broken it in hard on dino oil for the first 5,000 miles then switched to Mobil 1 5W20.
Over 800 1/4 mile runs to date and I can't complain.

Got about 11000 miles on my '06. I change the oil every 2000 miles and it doesn't use a drop between changes........... (yet).

If anyone uses Mobil 1, i just saw those 5 quart bottles at walmart for $22 bucks. I bought me a supply to last me a while. I've never had to add oil either and its never low, but my car does use 6 quarts.

Since I added the oil separator I no longer have this problem

Mobil 1, never noticed a 'loss' and obviously never added any...

Am I the only one that takes nearly 6.5 quarts to get to the fill line?

I do let it drain for a long time on the lift, but I doubt I get a half of court more for an extra 20-30 minutes.

Every few changes I take the oil gun and shoot about a 1/2 quart in the oil pan drain as sorta a rinse for the bottom of the pan. Call me crazy, lol.

Crazy.... you said you use an oil gun,,, maybe it's not calibrated...
I've used mobile 1 for the longest in all my cars. I have no oil consumption... I'm now using Royal purple in winter..

IMO Bulk oil is a no no even for flushing out my lawnmower ... but thats me... Moisture builds up in thoughs 55 gal. drums in a hot room where the air compressors are at and causes the drums to sweat inside...

I usually let mine drain on ramps so I get as much out as possible. I use almost 6.5 qts on refill.

It does that when It sits in your engine too ya know.
Im pretty sure oil and water separates and sits on the top, where the pump is at the bottom. You fill your gas tank from quarts too?
My tbird did fine on 250,000 miles on bulk oil.

But I understand what your saying. I'm just trying to bring the funny.
