Looking to go with 3.73 or 4.10. I have an 08 gt/cs auto with axle backs, JLT cai with tune. Looking to supercharge in the future. So I'm going to start working from the back forward. I'm leaning towards the 4.10's but wondering if 3.73's wouldn't be better with a supercharger. Thanks!
What kind of supercharger are you looking at? I'd personally never throw 4.10s on with a positive displacement blower (unless running drag springs and slicks everywhere).
Also, what are your intentions for the car? Daily driver or weekend warrior?
If your going FI stay with 3:55 gears if that is what you have now. I have 4:10s that I installed years ago when I was N/A and now that I have FI, first gear is pretty much useless (I roll from traffic lights in 2nd most of the time now). After you get out of first gear the 4:10s really allow you to row through the gears very quick as everyone with FI know, thing just happen a whole lot quicker with FI. The only I would consider 4:10s with FI is if you are going to drag race the car with a larger diameter tires in which case a low rear gear might be needed.
Do you have an auto or standard? Not sure how the 4:10s +FI are with auto's, perhaps others can chime in on that aspect.
I plan on it being a driver with the occasionally track(drag) use. Still wanting to get out on longer trips though. I have 3.31's in it now and it is an automatic. It will be either a KB supercharger or Procharger. Leaning more to the KB side of things. Not looking for an all out balls to the wall power. Just a nice dependable 11 second car. I want to drive it more than repair it if that's possible lol!
Dependable and KB in the same sentence... lol. I'd personally go 3.73 and a Roush TVS or Whipple blower if you want PD. Paxton/Vortech if you want Centri.
Make sure you do LOTS of research before jumping into an FI buy. For more on the 4.6 3v KB systems, I'd pm user sqidd. He threw one on his GT around 2006-2007.
I am going to go against the current here, and say stick with your 3.31's until you try them with the supercharger and see how it works out.
Don't be surprised if you actually get better 1/4 mile times with the 3.31's than the steeper gears, due to making better use of the torque of the engine, less shifting, and less wheel spin problems.
Issues with the KB? Maybe I should just upgrade axles and carrier then see how these gears works first. Around here 1/8 miles is the common tracks. St. Louis is the closest for 1/4 and I probably won't run that much at all. I'm new to the Mustangs and FI. I just sold my 64 nova. It had a 537 horse 383. I wanted to do something a little more modern. I really like the 05-09 body style mustang the best and found this 11500 mile 08. Just started researching mods for the 3v motors.
