Well did my hot rods today.
Took about 3 hours because I cheaped out completely and didn't use any specialty tools.
So performance is COMPLETE.
Now on to suspension.
I begin in January.
Things that are set in stone.
GT500 Strut mounts
Koni ST-Rs
J&M LCA
J&M UCA
J&M Adj Panhard Rod
Camber Bolts
Eibach Anti Roll Kit
Now for my question.
I plan on running 18x8s up front and 18x10s out back.
So that will aid in some fender gap, but raise the whole car.
I live here in El Paso, and I scrape on some spots stock. So..
Nothing lower than 1.5
What is everyone who DDs their car running?
Looking to add some handling and better stance.
No autoX or drag racing. Just wanting a well rounded GT.
Steeda Sports are sort of the defacto standard and well matched to the STR-T shocks/struts. They will lower the front about 1" and the rear about 1.25 -- which is definitely noticeable but not super low. I have them on my car and the ride is a bit firmer than stock but not "harsh" for my tastes. We have pretty bad roads around here and I have not had any problems, though there are a few steep driveways where I have to be very careful.
I have a few things on your list. GT500 strut mounts, Koni ST-Rs, Ford Racing P springs and a BMR panhard bar. I like the P springs- just an inch drop front and rear. Handling is better and the ride is more firm.
I'm running a square set up right now. 19x9 Boss LS wheels with 255/40 Pirellis. Going to go with something staggered soon. Most likely MMD Zevens in 19 inch.
Congrats on getting the cams in. How do you like them? Very cool.
As far as springs, notice that J&M only sells Vogtland springs and says these are the best. I have had a lot of people suggest to me to use Steeda springs and they have an excellent reputation. Since I don't want a lot of drop, I am considering the Steedas.
I see you have decided J&M is the way to go for LCAs, UPC, and Panhard bar. Their stuff does look really good. That said, you might really consider there suggestions and give them a call. Let the rest of us know what they say.
Again, glad to hear you got the cams installed - yep, definitely jealous - Congrats!
Well, she feels a little softer down low, which is fine, better for launching.
Around 3 it pulls much harder, really pulls you back.
In conjunction with the headers, it feels so much better.
My only complaint is I need to get the surge toned down just a hair. I understand it is inherent.
It's not even all that bad, just hoping maybe it's possible to tone it down a hair.
If I am approaching a stop, I just put it in neutral.
In D, it will fight the brakes for a brief moment. Nothing bad, but you do have to apply a little more pressure.
But I love em.
Pricey tires+****** roads=sadness and money wasted.
I do agree the rubber is key.
But I don't have any big plans.
By my modifications, that should be clear.
It's peppy for what it is. And never pretends to be something it isn't. That's why I toned down the exhaust.
Most spring rates I'm finding in 4 minutes are around the Steeda range.
I recommend our SP009 springs. They ride very well on the street and are about 15-20% stiffer than OEM springs. Along with the comfortable spring rates, the 1.5" drop looks great! I've been running them on my daily driver for the last 3 years (long before I started at BMR) and I couldn't be happier with them.
I installed the Eibach Sport kit in my 06, I run 20" staggered wheels. Adjustable panhard bar, camber plates, etc. Lowered the car nicely and to be honest, for an 06 low tech mustang, it handles pretty dam good. It's not an Audi, but it's greatly improved over stock. And I chose the Eibach kit because it's just that, a full kit designed to work well together. I couldn't be happier. Best of luck with your mods,
I found the springs I want.
Just rode in a friends GT.
He has a very similar setup to what I want.
18x9s and 18x10s
SR UCA and LCA
SR Adj Panhard
Orange Konis
And Steeda Ultralites.
Fell in love with the stance.
1 and just a hair more up front, and 1.5 out back.
Perfect with the 18s.
He let me drive it, felt amazing.
So I will be going with those for my build.
Minus the SR performance parts.
And with the Shaftmaster 3.5 1 piece.
I've read using a one piece driveshaft, an adj UCA is needed.
Any validity?
1.25 up front 1.5 out back with a one piece. Just wanting to finalize this list.
As always, thanks everyone!
If it handles like his, I'll be stoked. A great DD and awesome stance

Depends on amount of drop, pinion angle must remain .2 degrees or heck I forget the variance, anyway someone will intercede in my behalf. The DSS 1-piece drive shaft is the most forgiving when lowering. Might look into that too.
I just remember having great experience with shaftmasters in the past...although I wasn't lowered. I did race a lot more back then though.
And even today, they have the best price/bang for buck
