Default 2005 Mustang v6 widest tires size stock rim

my 05 has uniroyal p215/65r-16 tiger paws on it that frankly look sick compaired to my g/f 06 with bf goodrich ta spec same size but the tread width is 1/2 widerand looks better. i`m gonna go with the bf`s. the chart says the stock tire is 27 in high. i measured mine and they are 27 in. one shop told me go with 225/60`s, which the chart says are a 1/2 in shorter and another shop said go with the 235/60`s which are 1/10 taller at 27.1. has anyone used either of these sizes on the factory rims? that was a good post on the tire dates, very good to know. i`ll be watching that when i get the new tires. thanks, mike

The height of the tire is secondary to the width. What you first need to find out is how wide your rims are and then pick the widest tire that will "Fit" on them.

If you or your shop are calculating how tall a tire is by doing the math with the tire size you will never know for sure. All 225/55-18's are not going to be the same height. It will be different brand to brand and sometimes tire to tire of the same brand. To be sure the tire needs to be mounted on the propper size rim, inflated and then measured. It's the only way to know.

I've got the stock 16x7 rims on my car and i'm running 215/65/16 BFGoodrich Traction T/A's up front and 235/60/16 BFG Traction T/A's in the back. You cant really tell that the rears are like 1/10 of an inch taller than the fronts. Its such a small difference... Anyways I was told that 235/60 was the widest that would fit on a 16x7 rim.

On my old car; a '94 Cougar V8, I had factory 15 x7 rims and I was barely able to run 245/60/15s which looked great, but the too skinny rim caused irregular wear.

The center wore out too fast, despite perfect tire pressure.

The 1/10th taller tire puts it very close to the GT/Pony Kit Pirelli 17-inch tire diameter. No big deal.

Go to Tirerack.com, pick your car or favorite brand of tire, and look at the specifications. You'll be able to find all close matches that will fit your 16x7 rims.

Sounds like you are old school like me; Last time I bought real rear tires was for a `70 Torino GT Sportsroof and I ran 275/60/15s on Centerline 15x10 rims...

hey fyougitive , thats a nice website. they listed a dealer to install if i order them through there too thats pretty close. i like the 235 back 215 frt combo and esp like the ta`s look. the treads are squared off to the sidewalls nice. ya sadlsore, i did tires for a caddy dealer in detroit while i was in high school on a work program right when they came out with the p sizes.( early 70`s i guess). i would like to see some pics of the 235/60-16`s just to eye them up if anyone has more pics.
