In my opinion it is the nicest special edition that Ford has brought out. It is a really sleek clean car that is true to the original. And it is really very balanced with a good upgraded suspension and 3.73 rear gears with a cold air kit give it just a little more giddyup without sacrificing ride quality and daily drivability. It is also one of the few special editions that doesn't seem to get marked up too high at the dealership.

In summary, I would give my left nut to own one!

I bought one about six months ago and I smile everytime I climb in. The factory exhaust note was a little subdued for me so I went with these axle backs...with the Bullitt specific H pipe they work ..

Here's a great Edmund's Report on the Bullitt upgrades...

Here's a pretty good write up of the Bullitt specific upgrades. For an extra three grand list over a GT Premium it has to be the deal of the century. And BTW she really honks!!!

Back in June when I got my GT I was looking at a Bullitt, but it ended up I got a deal I couldn't refuse on my GT. Sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Bullitt, but I still love my GT. I like it, so if you can I say GET IT!!

Hey Wheelman, on those passes in the parking lot are you pushing it all the way to the red line? just curious.

To tell you the truth I don't know. I wanted to do the filming...my buddy was driving it and not really knowing the car and the fact I was standing there....he probably didn't ring her all the way out.lol

Thanks, but this Bullitt came at a considerable personal cost to me. When I saw my first S197 in '05 I knew one day I would have to have one. A year or so later on a whim I strolled into Annapolis Ford and test drove a new GT...it was nice but they had just gotten the then new 4.0 Pony package Mustang in Black with a stick and LOADED for 24 grand. I test drove it and liked the power so I bought it. I then spent the next year and a half throwing every bolt on I could and wound up turning mid 14's...not bad for a six. But then I stupidly visited Waldorf Ford one day and spotted a new Highland Green Bullitt on the showroom floor with a 5k ADM BTW. After some haggleling I test drove it and man...what a screamer she was. I knew then I would be driving it home no matter how bad I got beat up on the trade. And I did!! No regrets!! Here's a couple old video's of "Black Beauty" ..... I do miss them' heated seats though!! lol

BTW in that drag run you see what happens when you wait for the green light to come on like I did, instead of leaving when the third amber lamp lights, which is what he told me later he did. Didn't make that mistake again in a heads up race.

So how much quicker is the bullitt than a standard GT? Like a night and day difference? Cause there is the CAI and 3.73's right?

When Ford gave the green light to their Chief Engineer Paul Randle he decided to completely rework the GT literally from the ground up. They modified the engine with heavier crank dampeners for a higher redline, installed the first N/A car with a CAI and performance tune (that even the best tuners out there can only squeeze a few more hp out of Ford's tune) Stuck the GT500 rear differential in with 3.73 gears, installed new suspension:shocks, springs and stabilizer bar with a Ford Racing strut tower brace, Bullitt specific exhaust including Modified "H" pipe and throatier mufflers with 31/2 inch tips instead of the 3 inch on GT's, performance carbon matallic front brake pads and a bunch of interior goodies including a set of GT 500 front seats and steering wheel. All for just three grand more than a GT with the Premium package. But hear it in Randle's own words..

Here's a more complete list of upgrades. Ford finally got it right!

I just know this thing really screams and loooves third gear! I've seen low to mid 13's from a stock Bullitt on other threads. I'll be at MIR this spring and with about 20 psi in the rear tires and 37 psi in the fronts I'm betting at least a 13.4. Any takers?

The GT500 rear differential is no different that a GT. It's the same carrier.

Hmm I"m interested in those Performance Friction brake pads. I didn't think those were out yet. Might have to give the dealership parts dept a call and see if they have them.

If they play, I spray.
