Default Car heater blows cold air

My 2005 mustang heater stops blowing hot air when I stop at a light or stop driving.Within a few seconds of stopping the heater blows cold air. Can any one tell me what might be going on ?The temperature guage on the dash is normal and the car has normal heat while moving But not when i stop at a light or at a stop sign!

How long did you let her warm up for? While this was happening.

Have you checked it lately? I wonder if these cars have a heater valve. Will look into it.

get in a habit of checking that stuff weekly, otherwise much worse things could happen. check oil level, coolant,ps level, washer fluid, trans (if auto) while idling. check your belt for breaks or wear, look under car for leaks of any sort, summer time you'll notice some water from the ac condensation. tire pressure. I do this at least once a week.

now the real question is why did it get so low in the first place?

1) due to long term indifference (not checked or changed since new?)

2) more likely a mechanical issue, need to immediately check for leaks, seepage.(loose clamp, water pump about 2 go, bad hose etc.). if no external issues, have cooling system pressure tested. could be bad head gasket due to 2much boost or nitrous! LOL!

You can still loose a little over time when you don't check it regularly.
If that doesn't do the heater core might be air bound.
