Default How to replace lost key and key fob

Hello, could some one tell me how to go about replacing a lost key and key fob for a 2005. I unfortunately left them lie on the rear spoiler when doing some detailing and my wife drove off using her set of keys. Who knows how long they stayed there before flying off. Weve searched the nearby streets with no luck.
Any idea how much it will cost?

If you have another spare key, you may just need to program it. If you don't, you'll have to get the dealership to program it for you. Figgure at least $30 for the key plus programming.

To program a third key, you'll need to start the car with the first key, shut it down and start again with the second key. After shutting down for the second time, start the car with the third key. The new key is now programed.

This is the reason why the first thing I bought before I even left the dealership was a third key. Most modern Fords are the same. I got the advice to purchase a third key from my salesman when I bought my F-150 and I think it was good advice.

And welcome to the forums.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

I went to the dealership to get a spare key made because mine only came with one when I got it. They told me it would cost $80 dollars give or take to have a replica made. Not sure how much it would cost to get a whole new one made. Hope I helped, I too have a 2005 GT. Good Luck!

I also only got one key, and the second cost me about $90 from a key shop.

from ford i say about 90 dollars for the key, you could buy the remote for the doors and stuff from ebay, and you could program it yourself,

if i remember correctly, you have to go in your car sit on the drivers sit buckle your sitbelt, put the windows up, and turn the key 7 times really quick and then is gonna unluck and lock the car; and that is when you could hit unluck on your remote and that does it

Dang, I didn't pay anything near that for my key. I paid about $30 and did the programing myself (because I had the two keys the car came with).
I agree with the others on the fob. Get one off eBay, it's much cheaper.
