hello,
Ive read a couple threads on here about the subject but im not quite clear on the path that i need to take.

i just bought a nav/dvd for my mustang. its the boyo avn701 BOYO Vision AVN701D Car DVD/CD/MP3 Player with NavigationBOYO+Vision+AVN701D.html

i thought it would be a simple install of the unit with upgrading all the speakers in the near future. i think i have blown a few and am ready to upgrade all of them. the unit has 1 RCA coming from it that says sub out. then there is 2 pairs of RCA's that come out of the wiring harness. im going to have 2 amps for my subs and thinking about adding an amp to the new speakers i get. i have a line level converter hooked up now that my amp for my subs is hooked up to. so i guess im wanting to redo everything.

so really my questions are 1 - what size speakers are in the 07 mustang shaker 500?

2 - how do i go about hooking up 2 sub woofer amps that will be in the trunk?

3 - if i wanted to get an amp for my new speakers how would i hook that up

4 - what do i do with the line level converter if ill hook those RCA's to the head unit

5 - what do i do with the amp that is already included with the shaker 500.


if anybody has any answers or can give me some advice that would be great

1 - Front door and rear deck are both 6 x 8, and the subs in the door are shallow mount 8". You will need to do some trimming or bending of a plastic piece to get aftermarket 8's in.

2, 3 and 5 - You can use a new amp in addition to the amp that comes with the shaker 500, but you will need the PAC Ford radio replacement unit to do so. It's all in how you connect it to the head unit. Goes like this, head unit to PAC to factory amp to new speakers. For the subs in the trunk, if you have the RCA jacks in the back of your head unit, just hook the aftermarket amp up to the head unit to power JUST your subs.

No idea about question 4.

Yup. That's the one. That allows your aftermarket head unit to utilize the 500w amp that came in your car. Unless you plan on powering your replacement speakers with an aftermarket amp, that is the way to go.

The factory Shaker uses the HU to power the 6x8`s. Seperate amps (in the kick panels) power the door subs.The rear subs have seperate amps as well (trunk). I have a Pioneer HU with Bluetooth, Nav, Satellite Radio, etc. It is connected using the PAC harness. All of the 6x8`s are replaced with Infinity 5x7`s. I left the factory amps and subs alone. I cannot begin to explain the improvement over the factory Shaker components. What Ford charges for the Shaker option is obscene! FYI-The PAC harness has RCA connectors to upgrade (replace) the factory amps that power the subs.
