What's the Red Blinking Light in the Dashboard Lights For?

I have a 07 Premium Pony Pkg with the Interior Up-Grade Pkg and Preformance Pkg.
What's the Red Blinking Light in the Dashboard Guages for? Is it just there to Fool possible Theifes into thinking that there's a security device in the vehicle? Or does it really do something?
I know if someone trys to use a different key to open the doors the car wont start, does this have something to do with it?

It's an alert for the passive anti-theft system. Your key has a chip in it and the car won't start without it.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

I as well thought that's what it was for. I have an upgraded alarm now, so it blinks bright /blinding blue.

Yea I also thought mabey it had some kind of factory alarm in it and I just was'nt aware of how it worked.
So the red blinking light is connected to a sensor of some sort and if a key that is not the key for the stang is inserted it will recognize this and not start...
But in a way I guess someone seeing the blinking light may also think it does have an alarm and not mess with it...

No owners manual for your car?

Mine came with the factory alarm, that's what the blinking light is for. You can tell if you have an alarm by looking at your dome light by the rear view mirror. You will see a couple of holes with the sensors in them.

i`ll be the buzz kill. as much as NCWildhorse`s guess sounds like its the correct answer, i was leaning that way myself, myltlpny has the correct answer.( hes spent some time in this coral :hihi the key chip which is the anti-theft system is separate to a alarm system if so equipped.
