clicking when i start my car from the air conditioner

hey i start my 2007 mustang GT and i hear a loud clicking inside the car. i almost sounds like it is coming thru the speakers ......happens most of the time when i start the car ....but does happen sometimes just when i turn the A/C on.

I think i have determined that it is the A/C because if the A/C is in the off position it does not make the sound, this is weird ......anybody else have this happen....bugging the hell out me

The AC compressor clutch mechanism normally makes a loud clicking noise whenever it engages. Perhaps that's the noise you're hearing.

i do not thing so it really sounds like is coming thru the speakers....the noise you are talking about would come from under the hood.

its driving me crazy

its like the noise is being amplified thru the speaker system

So you're saying the noise gets louder when you put your ear next to the speakers?

no when i start the car a loud .....loud ...clicking noise comes from the speaker system............ if the air conditioning is off this does not occur at start up.....but if the air is on at start up it occurs.

it has something to do with the A/C for sure.......but the ckicking sound runs thru the speaker system

I am at a loss............weird noise

The AC compressor clutch has an electromagnet, and so do the speakers. It appears the electric signal that activates the AC compressor's electromagnet is also activating the speakers' electromagnets. Perhaps the AC compressor's wiring is in close proximity to the speaker wiring, and one or both wires have worn/poor insulation.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if you ever discovered what the clicking sound was that was coming from your AC when you turned on the car?
Thanks!

Most likely a vent actuator. Common problem on these cars. There are 4 of 'em, 2 easy to get to, the other 2 not so easy..

id like to know if the OP has an aftermarket headunit. there is a pop thru the speakers right after starting the car, its that the factory ford amps use 5 volts for turn on and aftermarket headunits put out 12 volts. its just one pop then everything is good. just my .02

Knocking noise when starting car and A/C mustang

Just took my 2012 Mustang in for the knocking noise. When I start the car (whether the a/c is on or not) and then again if I turn on the A/C. I'll try to attach a video. Noise seemed to be behind dash not in the engine.
The car was fixed in approx 2 hours and here's what is on the invoice:

cause: N33
19616B Motor Assembly - A/C DOOR ACTUATOR (Defrost)
Replace (18A318/19E616) - L
1 part # AR3Z*19E616*E MOTOR ASY

No price on the invoice since it was under warranty.
