Classic hood teardrop style

Has anyone seen a T-Bolt style teardrop hood for/on an S197? I'm giving that some thought. When I get time I'll see if I can PS one onto my car. I always liked the teardrops, 68 SS Hemi Dart scoop, 6-Pack scoop and Chevy stinger and LT-1 hoods too. :kooky:

Google,"pics of teardrop hoods", and you'll see a s197, same color as yours with a black teardrop hood. I lean more towards that look on the classics. But that's me. You're on to something though with those ideas.

The question is, why would you want that style hood on a newer fuel injected car? The tear drop was developed to accommodate a taller engine and the shape was for the air cleaner. To me putting that style hood a newer car is kind of like false advertising. Just my two cents.

You mean like a Thunderbolt scoop?

PS, my dad has a Foose hood for a '05-09 Mustang if anyone's interested in it. It has a really clean, subtle scoop on it. It's similar to this one but is finish-painted black. He has it hanging on a wall, lol!

t-bolt style hood

H-m-m-m....Bullit Wheels anyone, Shaker Hood scoop maybe, American Racing Wheels, B-XXX scoop, rear window slats, shouldn't a Tbolt hood be only as classic as those? The hood ??? People have tall cowl hoods so space underneath isn't making me feel like a "poser", so to speak. I am not a touring car person. I like tubs, big TIRES vs big wheels. I'm old school-60's/70's muscle cars. Trust me, if I could fill that space with a huge blower I would. The economy has left me with only dreams of 700 hp mustangs doing happy little xmas burnouts for me. As it is, I can say it will go on a Ford like it should, IF i get one. I'm not one to put looks before performance

LOL - sort of like most hood scoop on a fuel injected car... They're for show, not go or functionality ....

Ps. nice hood scoop....

Op. I've see just the tear drop on the web for sale but not a hood with the thunderbolt scoop.

Actually, the point of any scoop is to help deliver cooler air to the intake. Mine is functional so it's not just for show. But I do agree that most scoops are for show.

thunderbolt teardrop

Looks to me like the tbolt hood was made to allow for engine height and heat extraction. All I wanted to know is there anyone who may have a pic of an S197 with a classic tbolt hood. Just wonder why nobody has that hood available and it is classic Ford. Just inquiring. Not a teardrop imitation/a true tbolt design. I could use the extra space to heat my lunch at work.

i had a different kind of teardrop on my 67 that ive never seen another of. i think i bought a 65-66 fiberglass hood with the scoop, cut it off the hood, cut out the ribs and the top of my 67 hood and glassed it on. i dont have any pics cause i didnt have a camera back then in the 70`s.

it had the teardrop frt and then it went straight on the sides, had rounded back corners and straight across the rear, and it had chrome heat extractor vents along the sides. i would have that on my 05 if i could find one.
