Hey there, I plan on ordering some gears for my mustang. It currently runs 3.55 gears and I plan to switch them out to the 4.10's, will I need anything else for the install? On Am they are offering instal and bearing kit, and two other options. Are these necessary?

I believe it was 2010 when Ford changed the 8.8 inner rear gear pinion so I believe your good to go.

On my 08, I just got the bearing and install kit, royal purple gear oil, and the gears. I didn't need the Trac-Loc rebuild kit, but I got it anyway to upgrade from stock and to make it like new again.

OP,

You don't have to purchase any of the extras with these gears. However, if you've never replaced the bearings in your rear, now's a good time since you'll have most of it apart. I highly suggest looking into the bearing kit!

If you're over 50k, I'd change the bearings. I did gears at 3x,xxx miles so I didn't worry about it. However, you will need new posi dif oil when you do the job along with some RTV sealant for the dif cover.
