FR500S mufflers

Well I just won a really sweet set of ford racing FR500S mufflers on ebay for 309 bucks. I listened to a lot of videos and decided these were the ones I wanted. I will do a tech post with some pictures in the GT tech section on Monday when I get them. Anyone currently running these want to chime in?

I am running these and they sound absolutely awesome. There is no drone at any speed. They are a little louder when you first start the car but mellow some within a few minutes. At normal cruise they are very civilized but still let people know you are not stock. Above 3000rpm all hell breaks loose. I had a post about these a few months ago. You got a great deal as mine were over $600. They will also mellow out with some use.
To me they are the best sounding axle backs out there.

I concur-they are the best sounding thing out there. They have a loud bark when you start them up, then just like Rob said, they mellow out during idle and cruising. But step on it and they are a nice loud volume but not ear-splitting. But people will hear you for sure. And also like Rob said, there is no drone, period. Even my Pontiac G8 with the special Solo J-tube mufflers I had drone, and the drone from my Flowmasters with my previous Mustang was horrendous and times. Not so with the FR500S, they were worth the $500 I paid.

And as for the tone themselves, no sound clip except for a professional one and listened to on a hi-fi sound system or great headphones will do them justice. They have that nice musclecar watery-burble sound amplified by the slight lopey-ness of the engine.

I went through the steps to sand it and heat-paint the cans black to not stand out so much under the car. They look nice and sound amazing.

THIS pretty much narrows it down.

Wow, that is a great deal, even if they are used (and in good shape) . . . they are real hard to find for less than $500.

I have them and like them a lot too. Sometimes I think they might be a little too loud for me, at heavy throttle and/or high RPM, because all of the streets around here are quiet residential back-roads, and I'm sure I have disturbed a few people with the sound of a race car going down the street at high speed. It does put a bit of a damper on my fun ; or maybe I am just too careful.

Anyway, enjoy, I'm sure you will like them!

Thanks for the responses I'm really excited now LOL. Most of the vids I have seen were not the best quality sound and American muscle doesn't even have a vid posted for them on the item page (kind of disappointed about this).

Deep rumble at idle (after the engine warms a little), throaty, racy screaming at full throttle. They have a decent sound level at idle and general cruising, but are quite loud under throttle.

Great axle-backs! Picked mine up here in the classified section. I think it was $350 plus shipping. I've had two other GTs with Flowmasters and these are by fare the best. Like everyone else has said, they're the best.

Just can't wait until I get some LTHs, a real CAI/intake and a set of cams. Car will sound amazing.

Here's my sound clip after washing the car.
