So am I the only one that is completely and totally unimpressed with the 2016 GT? Did not like anything about it at all except for the 6 speed transmission other than that it sucked in my opinion
Blazin I was asking for an opinion when you have one that is grown up please comment
Bullitt I wasn't to sold on the toggle type switches they seemed chinsey to me and the seating, well, it's like they are trying to damn hard. It's a MUSTANG GT it SELLS itself lol. I certainly expected more out of the power plant than I saw/felt (and I drove the crap out of it). Tested the one with the track pack. My 05 seems much more responsive to me. Definitely not going to spend the money on one
......But the shaker 500 screen was bad ass with the back up camera. personally I prefer my 05 gt. I really wanted to like it too!
I agree I'm not a fan of the chrome toggle switches.
I drove a 15 Eco awhile back. I liked it but to me the S550 is a different type of car than the S197. The styling has grown on me and maybe one day I'll upgrade. But for now my little 3v keeps me entertained.
Quan, I do like the exterior somewhat. I hated it when the first came out but it's OK now, but "ok" and (personally) subpar performance will definitely not get me to spend $40k
I made a thread similar not to long ago, but not putting it down quite as much as you after driving a new 15 GT with track pack and a Ecoboost...
With that said I agree the GT doesn't feel as fast as the 05-14 GT's. I put that due to the new modernized/upgraded independent rear suspension makes it feel smoother and not as rough. That is good for the everyday driver, but bad for people who like to feel the rough and raw power we know and love so well.
HOWEVER, watch the speedometer and I will promise you it is much faster that the 05-14's by a decent amount. MUCH FASTER IN EVERY WAY. (Straight line or road course.)
However, it sounds like I am like you, as I want more than just fast. I want a car that is enjoyable to drive in every way. The 2015-2016 GT350 and GT350R will be the car that feels like a regular GT and what is more for the raw power Mustang owner.
Also I really think we all need to tone the attitudes down a little bit, before things get out of hand. Mainly the OP as there is no need to call somebody out. I think Blazin72 was being a little sarcastic and not trying to be attacking. We all have a love for Mustangs lets not let opinions get in the way.
Mustang life, onew of the things was the clutch, it had no feeling what so ever, I am sure your right about it being faster. But you just can't "feel" anything through the car.
My Pops had a 15 GT for a short while before upgrading to the 2015 Corvette. The clutch was awkward at first but it got better with miles on it. Its for sure faster then the 4.6 3v. Driving both the 15 was faster then my 3v. It didn't feel 120hp more faster though. I'm also not Impressed with them at the drag strip in stock form, Mid to higher 13s is what I see due to the wheel hopping and spinning so badly. I'd like to see what people do to them in the next few years and see how they do.
It's nice to have a fast car but if you have to drive it at more than 8/10 to enjoy the experience, all you're going to end up with is a car that you won't have fun driving 80% of the time and lots of speeding tickets when you do.
I agree with the "raw power" vs "refined comfort" analogy. I for one would rather drive a loud, clunking, droning, rattling fast Mustang than asking the guy at the light next to me if he has any Grey Poupon.
With that said, I have no idea what I'll be driving in the future. Lol
Norm, all of my test drive was from the Ed murdock super store in Lavonia GA on Highway 17 and on the curvey road beside it which is called north fairview Rd.(GPS it)
Was a great test drive it was fun for sure, but the car is not for me. I just don't like it at all. It is to "plush" I suppose and with out any feeling of the road whatsoever, told the salesman that too I thought I was going to have to help him pick his mouth up off of the lot.
I love my 05, and I like the 11-13 styling. Maybe I'll look around for one to take on a test run.
