Im looking to get new tires for my stang. I need all season tires that are for a DD and do a lot of driving in the rain since I live in the northwest. Any suggestions on tires size 235-50-18... Thanx for the input.
I've used Tire Rack for years to help me pick the best based on test, surveys, etc... Last set purchased were the Goodyear Eagle Sport for wife's GT Vert. They're still listed as one of the best High Performance All Season and I'll admit, they are pretty good in all the elements, dry, rain, snow. They're much better now that we went back to OEM shocks/dampers. Was running the Koni STR-T's, they were great for when we played with the car a lot, but we've have settled down a little since then....at least with hers, not mine...
I wish I had A/S tires last night it was a B%tch to get home last night from my GF's house. Left her house at 630 got home at 745 and she lives 20 miles from me I hate winter!!!!!
MotorTrend did a nice test/review of the Cooper RS3-S and A recently. I ran the RS3's (now called RS3-S) from 2007-2012 on my Roush and really liked them. Once they heated up, they were pretty sticky. Article has some good things to say about both the S & A. http://www.motortrend.com/news/tire-test-cooper-tires-zeon-rs3/
I've had the Nitto Motivos and thought they were nice. Most recently I got the Michelin Pilot Sport AS/3's and they blow away the Nitto's IMHO. Like them so much I put them on my wife's Fusion Sport too. The only downside is the price of Michelins...
ditto on the tire in posts 9 and 10. great all around year round save when it snows then where I live one needs to have a 4x4 standing by or you don't go anywhere,
I'm running Yokohama Avid Envigor tires at the moment and they seem like a really great tire. It looks like they are discontinuing them though but I will definitely will look to yokohama for my next set
Have Continental Extreme Contact DWSs on my 2010 GT and they have been great in all conditions. Car came with them, so can't say how they compare to other tires. But can say that they corner well (mountain roads and curves here in God's country, WV), they stick well from a dead stop, and they do well in rain and light snow. We have heavy snow now and I am driving the 1996 F150 4X4... 37 inches is too much for the Mustang.
On the wife's Kia, we went from Nexens to Continental Extreme Contact DWSs and gained in performance every where, including driving in snow. My truck has always done well with BF Goodrich All Terrains - had Goodyears stock, but BFs have proven better everywhere. I'd say you can't go wrong with the Continentals or BF Goodrichs. FWIW
Been looking at the Michelin PSSs and thinking they are in my car's future... but have lots of tread left before I decide.
i got some falken tires 235 for my stang and i really liked them, i just got them but for now they are really nice, hold really well turning and are really good in the rain so far have about 1k on them.
If you live somewhere it snows, the Continental DWS's are probably your best bet. I tried Hankook Venus S1 Noble2's and they were great when I got them, but now that they're going through winter for the third time, I don't take my car out unless I have to. Even after most the snow melted this last time, ABS was turning on when I was lightly stopping from a 10mph roll. Ford moco said I had 50% tread-life on them when I had to go in for the 14B09 recall late December
After going thru a winter on the stock all season tires and stock rims, I may just leave it like this. I would love to spend some $$ on summer rims and wheels, but it's hard to justify all that money for a few months a year.
I'm thinking that some nice Continental/high performance all season tires on my stock rims is probably the way I'll have to go. It's not as cool looking as so many others on this forum, but I think a nice "stock" GT can look pretty good and be fun to drive, too.
At this point in my life - house, kids, etc - I just can't spend a ton on my car. I think I'll be fine, I lil show it drives and rides now so some nice rubber might make it even nicer.
That's my story for now. Help me stick to it.
