Anybody regret not waiting until 2011 for the new V6. I'm split since I want to purchase now but would love to have the extra 100hp 6 months from now. My main use will be as a daily driver and some autocross. The only thing holding me back is the current 2010 has a proven motor over the past 10 years or so. Even If I do purchase a 2010, simple bolt ons and a tune would boost it up to 275hp correct?
You'll get a better deal on the 2010 but if you can afford the 2011 V6, then i would wait. With all bolt on's and a dyno tune, you might be around 260-270 at the crank. But imagine if you did that to the 2011 and pushing around 360-370 at the crank? That's badazz for a V6 mustang.

Good point, just worried about long term reliability with a V6 pushing 350rwhp. My other ride is a 73 vette, therefore not looking for too much hp in this.
Well I'm very happy with my 2010 V6 manual trans, I would not personally buy the first year of a brand new engine 5.0, or 3.7 regardless of the HP claims, I would at least wait till the third year of production for Ford to work out any kinks, mark my words there will be kinks!! I know that my 4.0 has a long history with ford and has been improved over the years, I say go for the 2010 and drive it until the 2014 anniversary models are available. At least by then you'll know the engines are tried a true. Plus there is going to be a lot of tit for tat between Chevy, Dodge and Ford as who has the most HP, so don't be surprised if 2012, 2013... get increased HP.

That is my biggest concern, first year of a new engine. Maybe there won't be any kinks, but then again we won't know for a while.

Reading your first post sounded like you were looking for some more ponies under the hood but if not, then i would go with the 2010.
I don't see a big problem with the new engine. I know when i bought my 05 GT, i thought the samething. During the few years with it, i had the water leak problem, ebrake broke and a fogged headlight and that was all. usually it's problems like that with a new body style.

I'd be satisfied with a 250hp daily driver. 210 does not do it. There is a great market of bolt ons for 05-09s, wonder if those years are compatible bolt ons for 2010.

That's what my plan is. I'm going to drive my 2010, put a few mods into and wait for the 50th anniversary to come around when I'll be able to afford a GT.
Don't know if i would want to put a supercharger on that new 2011 v6. it looks like it would be quite a chore. whats the compression ration on it anyway?

+1 on that. The compression was already high if I remember. Everyone always gets hyped up about the newest engine or gadget, so quick to turn their backs on a set-up that's been tried and true for years. If its not an argument about whether to buy a 2010 or 2011, it'd V6 vs. GT.
I have a 2010 V6 5 spd and I love it. Would I like more power? Of course, but I wouldn't buy a first run drivetrain to get it. The 2010 with a few basic bolt-ons is a pretty quick, good handling car. The 2011 is the same chassis so it'll handle fine, but with the thousands you could save on the 2010, why bother if you're not in it for power? And then why go with a V6 if you're solely looking for power anyway?
