How much oil does a 2010 V6 Rear Axle Take

K so i got my t-lok installed on tuesday and i must say i love it. No major burnouts yet i still have to break it in but i can tell a difference when turning.

My question is how much oil should have been put back in after the install i had the dealer do it and on the reciept it says they put in 2 XY*80W90*QL OIL i assume that means they put 2 quarts of 80W90 in plus the 4 ounces of friction modifier i supplied. My question is dosent the 7.5 rear axle in the 2010 v6 mustang take 3 quarts of oil??

I dont think they woudnt put in enough fluid in?? Could they just have used 2.5 quarts of oil and not charged me for the half of bottle?

Dosent seem to be any problems with and is not leaking and sounds fine i am just wondering how much oil goes in.

Also should i change the axle fluid and add more friction modifier after the recommended 500 mile break in time? or should it be fine.

Thanks for the help

i think its like 1.75 qts, just enough to go up to the fill hole. they prolly just charged you for 2.

i would change it after 500 miles, if you use royal purple you need no friction modifier

yep, you paid for 2 for 1 3/4 you didnt change your gears, so you dont need to do the 500 mile break in

drink some of it and see if it tastes funny.

just short of doing it yourself or watching them, theres no way of telling untill your car breaks.... but im sure they did.

alot of aftermarket fluids have it in there.

Actually it says here (on the link i posted) and on the ford racing site that this t-lok is to be used with 75W90 for normal driving conditions which is basically the same as 80W90 , 80W90 is just a tad bit thicker which i preffered. It only says to use 75W140 for colder temps and racing and since were i live it never gets below 10 and i only go to the race track once a year then i should be fine.

Thanks for the adivce though i was going to put 75W140 in but i just stuck with 80W90 because i prefer it, plus that is what the ford dealer said they put in Mustang Gt's with limited slips plus the friction modifier.
