Question Straight Pipes, X Pipe or H Pipe?

I have a local exhaust shop that said he could just put straight pipes on my 2006 V6 instead of an X or H is this better or?

do a search. there are tons of articles and websites about this. now with straight pipes, that means no resonators, cats, or sometimes no mufflers. You need an H or X pipe..... and to go with or without cats, resonators, or mufflers is purely your choice, but not recommended. hope this helps. any other questions just ask.

Straight pipes are good if your off road. They are pretty loud. If you have to smog your vehicle then you will have to get a bypass kit for the O2 sensors. Personally I am ok with the x-pipe, it has the sound I like and I put the Magniflow exhaust to go with it. I really like this and cops don't give me a hassle, that says a lot coming from
California.

i think he means cutting the y after the cats and running straight back separate, h or x mid. lots of guys have all 3 ways. i have a h and really like it. i think its just a take a chance, have it done or do it, go from there. thats how it was for me going with my setup. ive been very happy with it. ive seen guys happy and not happy with all 3 methods.

I would go x or h pipe. The straight pipes are pretty loud and tend to be a bit raspier than the x or h. The x will give a couple more ponies than the h, but the h will give you the deepest tone of them all. It's really preference though, I prefer the h myself but the x is good too

You can have him to install those flex exhaust pipes they sell at Advance Auto Parts, etc. See how you like the sound, if not, go with the X pipe.

i think the biggest reason alot of guys go with the x is because you can get them all over. you cant hardly find the h pipes. i got lucky cause jba was still selling the stainless h pipe kits, now they only sell the complete system w/mufflers. i think that was a huge marketing mistake for them. 05horse ran separate pipes for a couple years and liked them.

I'm just having a shop fabricate an X-pipe for me. Do you think this is bad? Personally i don't see a difference in JBA or Pypes making the pypes and a muffler shop but that's just me.

I'm between an H-pipe or straight pipes. I read something by 5.0 Mustang magazine about straight pipes performing really well on our 4.0, but I'm considering the H-pipe to help a little with sound if I decide to go with long tubes in the future.

I had a shop build me an x-pipe and I'm very happy with it. If it's a good shop you should be fine.

That's Too Much. I just paid $299 for a X Pipe, 2 Mid Pipes and 2 GT Take Off Mufflers, all the Clamps and a Drivers Side Muffler Hanger from (NTO) newtakeoff.com
Mabey try them if you need just an X Pipe, but what are you going to do for the rest of the Set up back? Installation is pretty Easy, that hardest part is Cutting the Pipes after the Cat's and knowing where to cut them so you have enough Pipe to play with. Everything is Clamp on you should'nt need anything Welded so you can do it all yourself. I recommend going without Welding anything so you can always remove stuff with just the Turn of a wrench and put new stuff back on the same way and you dont lose any Pipe from Welding and re cutting.
