Default 2007 mustang- change dual exhaust from divorced duals to x-pipe

Right now on my 2007 v6 I have divorced duals after the cats going to flowmaster mufflers. I am thinking about getting a x-pipe installed instead. Right now i do not like the sound at the higher rpm's. So I am wondering if the x-pipe will sound and perform better or if switching would be pointless. Also if i went the x-pipe route I was looking at getting something like this

X Pipe Universal Mandrel Bent 2 5 or 3 inch Aluminized Mild Steel 14 Gauge | eBay

and having a local shop weld it in. I was wondering if anyone has tried a generic eBay x-pipe or if you have any other recommendations.

X pipes give a higher tone than H pipes...I can go to a local shop and have them fab & weld in a x or h pipe for around $60-$75 part and labor. Wouldnt hurt to see what prices you can get locally as far a part + install vs just install.

I definitely agree with getting an X or H pipe. I can't talk about the H pipe as i've never had one on mine, but I can definitely vouch for an X. I used to be on the same boat (at high rpms, mine sounded ricey). I bought an X pipe and had it installed shortly after. It really smoothed out the sound and now it's not embarrasing to step on the gas.

I can help you with that, when i first bought my mustang it had dual divorce pipe, so previous owner was a cheap dumbass, first: the pipes make the mustang sound loud but i have pypes bombs axle back, every rev made my car sound like it was choking on marbles, horrible. i found online a pypes x pipe for 70 bucks, the install was 90 for me, but they had to weld the x pipe to my tailpipes, i need new tail pipes because the old owner made a custom tail pipe and well it makes a shitty noise, h pipe have nice rumble, but the pypes x pipe made a difference! they are both good depending on the axle back exhaust you pick, i would look in ebay, believe its true you get what you paid for, cheap custom welding exhaust will bite you in the ass,

I will try to check our a couple other places out and see if I can find someplace that can make an x-pipe. Most of the shops around so far do not want to make one so I have been looking online for other options. If ebay is not a good choice have any better recommendations of one that would be good and is reasonably priced.

I have an extra h pipe, but it does not have cats, i was going to use the h pipe for my long tube headers but im wanting to go a different route, the only thing i would do is cut the from on the cats and just either clamp or weld the h pipe, ill take pics tomorrow if you interested?:shiny:

I would recommend an H Pipe. I have a custom H pipe and it sounds really good and keeps a low, muscle car sound.
