Hey Stl … if you see this … is this what happened to your JLT tube?

Can't quite tell... Is the metal MAF housing turning freely in the black tube? If so, contact Jay Tucker at JLT.

I'll have to check that, but that gap was not there when I installed it.

Hey stl … I can't win w/ a thing lately. The car should not be on my "things to do list" right now. Our boat takes up all spare change and time … LOL!
You called Mr. Tucker in the above post about the separation problem? What happened after the call? I sent an email much earlier this AM, but no response yet. I didn't buy it from JLT … Evolution. Thx for the time!

This is definitely a case of the tune not the intake itself. For one, the MAF on the C&L racer is bigger than the JLT, and C&L street. On dyno charts JLT and C&L hp gains are just about as close as you can get to exactly the same. It was your tune, you wasted your money buying a whole nother intake.

Think he was also having some physical problems with the C&L air tube.

I didn't buy from JLT directly either. My first communication with Jay was via email. He was very prompt in his reply.

I received a reply and I send a pic of the tube. I replied that I'd send the defective tube back to them.

That's what I did too. He even sent a prepaid UPS label to send back the bad one.

The replacement came in yesterday and the prepaid label also. The box wouldn't fit in the UPS drop off box though off to UPS and the summer traffic back up.
I noticed inside the rubber elbow it was quite dirty, but the MAF looked clean. I sprayed the MAF anyway w/ the cleaner.

I had two different tunes in the Racer and while it went like snot after 400RPM, it was not too exciging from 1500 to 3000. The JLT give a much nicer powerband. It's all dyno butt however, I assure you that the highway pulls and the little incline into my garage are proof enough for me.

The JLT is a better design in my opinion in that the rubber boot that attaches to the TB is not joined by a secondary silicone ring. The C&L Street is a good unit, had one on my V6. I was not crazy about the racer though.

Was the filter itself dirty? Had you cleaned it before you gave up and replaced it?

I bought a spare filter to put on between cleaning/oiling. I should keep track of when I switch them out. Every 6k maybe would be a thought. I think there's another type of filter you DON'T have to clean
