If they're seeing what I experience during cold weather, this isn't a case of "operates smoothly" after warming up.
I have no issues 1-2, 2-4, 4-5, but the car CANNOT be put into 3rd gear when temps are below 40 unless I let RPM's drop to a complete idle (or I'm parked).
Think I'm kidding? When it's "cold" outside (and in Houston, "cold" is in the mid forties), there is NO RPM other than idle that my
tranny goes into 3rd. I don't even try anymore, I just rev 2nd a little longer then go to 4th.
I also want to stress that my '08 is my THIRD S195 (had two '05's), and my current car is the ONLY one which has this problem.
The 5 speed '05 I owned while living in Michigan did NOT have this problem.
The 5 speed '05 I owned while living in Michigan was my daily driver.
The 5 speed '05 I owned while living in Michigan was driven in temps as low as -20, and at TWENTY DEGREES BELOW ZERO, that car could be shifted into every available gear.
Notchy? Sure it was, but it WOULD go into 3rd gear, whereas my '08 WILL NOT.
The 5 speed '08 I drive now absolutely has an issue my '05 didn't, it absolutely affects drivability, and hearing people who aren't driving MY car (or someone else's car that IS having a problem) telling me (or them) that they aren't having a problem is getting absolutely annoying.
And yes, I'm being a middle aged grump at the moment, but I've put several hundred thousand miles on manual transmissions and THIS CAR, RIGHT NOW, has a problem that NONE of the others I've driven, going back 28 years, has had.
Naysayers may now bite my a@@
