Default FYI: windshield protection product

As you'll see in my profile, I have a Proline Styling windshield protection product to prevent my FOURTH vehicle windshield from breaking (3 on my "other vehicle" convinced me I had to SOMETHING - ANYTHING - to stop the bleeding) in the last 18 months (and no - that's NOT a typo).

If you're not familiar with the product and want to know more about it on contact them to find either a distributor in your area or buy it directly from them, here's the company's website link: it has videos, etc. about the product along with demos:

http://www.prolinestyling.com/

If you want to see actual videos of somebody shooting rocks at a windshield at relatively high speed without the product then one with it, check this out:

I like the product a lot and it's nearly invisible, the edges being the ONLY part you can detect and ONLY if you're looking for them/know that they're there somewhere.

The only advice I'd give you is have someone who has actually installed one before do it or have someone who's done installs of "protective film" (like 3M's paint protection product) and knows what they're doing.

Is it something that you can install yourself?

You can..you just have to be really really patient and careful to get all the bubbles out.

It really helps to have two people- makes the process of applying the film and "processing" it according to the instructions MUCH easier.

You could have your wife help you Mark - what nicer way is there to say "honey I love you" than having her help you with "the baby" ?

Oh yea, you don't want to go there.

How hard is it to take off if you need to? Does it dis-color over time? And what can you use to clean it? Can you use Rain-X?

It peels off and leaves no trace of residue sonce the "slurry" used to "bond" it initialy is an alcohol solution mixed with water.

As for Rainex, you don't really need it since the product is naturally rain/water-repellant but neither Rainex or anything else like that will "hurt" it if you decide to apply it anyway.

Also, don't be concerned that you wiper blades will somehow "scuff" or mar the product: they won't.
