Default Shelby lettering problem

Rookie poster here, frequent lurker though. Question for you all- I have an '07 Shelby GT. On the trunk, the "Y" in the SHELBY badging has fallen off, thank God it was retrieved. It looks like it was adhered with a double sided tape, a cheap but expected way to do it. My question is- What type (brand) should I use to put it back on. I have some standard, heavy duty 3-M stuff for the house at home, but is that good enough? Any specific recommendations on procedue?
Thanks in advance for the input.

3M double-sided adhesive tape (thin and dark gray in color)...go to an auto parts store, they should have it.
On the Shelby GT500 the letters were placed on the left side of the trunk since they were worried about the letters not adhering properly to the vinyl racing stripes...however your "Y" should be on the paint, right?

Right on, Mark. Yeah, the tape visible on the "Y" is gray in color. Appreciate it.

Yup, dont be an idiot like myself and use the much thicker tape to attach parts on your car (my ducktail)... the gap it leaves is definitely noticable!

I put my "Mustang" logo on crooked (of course!) when I mounted it, but never took it back off b/c I didn't think it would stick again. Now I know how to make that happen!!
Bless you both!

Glad to help! Use a little fishing line under the logo to cut through the old tape.

And thank you for that! As I posted my last reply I was thinking "now, if somebody wants to share some tidbits about how to get the emblem off......that would be great too!" Should I heat it w/the blow dryer? I thought I read somewhere about someone doing that.

Absolutely! or a heat gun on low. It might even come off without the fishing line.

OK, well that faceplate tape must be pretty special--couldn't find it at Auto Zone or O'Reilly's.
Are any of their other tapes gray? I could just cut the tape down to size. Half-inch is the smallest I could find.

Sure... You can cut it with a razor blade. Install the tape and trim it on the piece rather than trying to cut it first.

Oh, OK. This was going to be my weekend project but since my trunk may no longer be straight (Re: my post in Lounge), this might not be the right time to do it.
Thanks again!
